Pros: extensive shade range, nice coverage, no mask like effect, spf 30, weightless texture
Cons: no pump

Hi beauty junkies!

I’m so excited to share with your my experience with the long-awaited Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Foundation.

I have a classy version of Double Wear and I’m really glad I do, but I wanted to get a more lightweight, weightless and wearable foundation for everyday use.

* Aside: Currently I have 2 bottles of Double Wear Nude that I bought when I was at the Estee Lauder counter in Ho Chi Minh City. Why? The reason is so plain.

When I was there for the first time, the EL consultant helped me choose the right shade. Due to the lack of lighting, she decided that I had dark skin and picked up quite a dark tone for me.

On returning home, I noticed that I looked like a young Creole with this shade on and I was almost on the verge of tears, because the product was actually expensive.

When I came to them the next day, I learnt that it was final sale. So, I couldn’t think of anything better than buying a lighter shade and blend them both together.

So, let’s start the review:

Packaging

The packaging is the same as the classy version. It comes in a heavy and presentable bottle that is a little bit more elongated and thinner. It also has a golden cap and no pump.

In terms of the pump dispenser, I know it’s not a deal-breaker for many, but it’s annoying for me. The foundation always flows, bleeds, smears the cap and spills all over.

I can never get the required amount of the product in the first try. I get either not enough or too much of it. There is a way out… you can purchase a separate pump for this purpose, but it’s so mean of them…

The bottle comes with 30 ml of the product, which will suffice for a few months of daily use, I suppose.

The texture, properties and quality of the foundation

This foundation is very liquid, lightweight and runny as opposed to the DW that is thicker. Mind this peculiarity and shake the bottle properly before use.

The manufacturer also recommends doing it, because the product divides into layers, which is alright for such a formula.

The product spreads out on my skin with ease and very quickly. I use a beautyblender for this purpose. But it dries out quite quickly, so work fast. I recommend applying the product to particular areas and blending it out right away rather than applying it to the whole face at once.

It requires some time for the foundation to set. For me, it takes about 30 minutes.

I don’t recommend you use a powder right after this foundation, as you may look mask-like without this beautiful and natural-looking finish.

The finish is not really glowy, it’s satin-powdery and so gorgeous. Love it.

I have combination skin with an oily T-zone and I’m not much into a totally matte effect, so I set this foundation with satin- and light-reflecting powders, which helps me maintain the glowy finish, smooth out my skin tone and make my makeup last longer.

Do not expect 25 hours of wear, as it’s actually a lighter daily version of the Double Wear foundation.

I always have blotting papers with me. It’s OK for me to use them throughout the day, it’s nothing annoying.

If you have super-oily skin, the Double Wear Nude is probably not for you.

As for the makeup prep, it’s standard. Have clean skin without heavy dry patches or heavy inflammations. It should be well moisturized and nourished. In fact, I’ve never had a foundation that would look divine against skin in bad conditions, so don’t have high hopes about it.

The maker also provided SPF 30. It contains not only chemical filters, but also a physical zinc oxide.

Application and results

Let’s move onto the results.

Here is my bare skin with freckles, acne spots and blackheads.

That’s how it looks immediately after application when the foundation hasn’t yet set.

And, the final look: The photos are unfiltered. I took them with the light-reflecting powder on, near the window by daylight.

I have some fine lines. Well, I’m no longer 18 obviously Smile So, I have visible lines in the nasolabial area and on my forehead. Unfortunately, the foundation settles into them in a few hours.

However, it’s not an issue for me either, because it’s normal for all foundations I have, including the classy Double Wear.

To be fair, it’s not really visible in real life and I don’t look like an old lady, so I’m OK with it.

Bottom line:

It’s probably the best thing that has ever happened with my makeup. This foundation is comfortable to wear, gives good coverage and doesn’t dry out my skin even when used daily. It looks really natural.

Well, of cause it’s pricey and to top it off, there is no pump, but I’m ready to shell out to get this effect.

Who might not like it?

It may not be good for girls with extremely oily skin, because it simply won’t set on you.

Also, it’s not suitable for those with uneven skin texture, because it will emphasize all blemishes, especially if you use a mattifying powder on top of it.

And, it’s a pass for girls with heavy peeling, because this foundation will only make it worse. Other than that, I sincerely recommend this product!

Happy shopping and have a nice mood! Thank you! Smile
