We came across this product when our pug refused to feed her newborn puppies. That’s when I learned that there are such things like puppy milk replacement.
Even though this product is pretty unusual, I’d say (as a rule, dog mothers feed their babies with their own milk), but it’s really important for the little ones to grow and stay healthy.
First of all, we didn’t really follow the directions, because when we did, we ended up with a very thick and dense mix. It was way too much, and we were afraid such a brew would cause problems with our puppies' digestion. So be careful!
The formula comes in a hermetically sealed can. There is also a measuring spoon.
The smell is pretty nice, though we grew tired of it after three weeks.
Our puppies drink this milk willingly and don’t suffer of constipation.
Some of the formulas dissolved well, some wouldn’t dissolve and I had to mix them additionally. I don’t know, maybe it depends on the batch.
One can lasted about 5 days. I fear to imagine how quickly we would have run out of it if we owned a bigger breed.
In general, we are happy with this puppy milk. It’s quite pricey (about $30 for a can). Yes, owning a dog without maternal instincts can be expensive. But we hope everything will be fine!
By the way, we bought a Royal Canine Formula once, and our puppies refused to drink it.
