Two months ago, we became the lucky owners of a little Yorkshire Terrier puppy. Actually, our daughter is the owner, but as you can understand, the responsibility lies with us, the parents.
The dog food should be chosen very carefully. Do not feed your pet indiscriminately, because the diet determines the health and life span, not only in humans, but also in dogs.
After the recommendation of our friend we bought the Acana Puppy Small Breed dog food.

There was no Ziplock on my sample packaging.
As a result, I can not close the package. I tried to fix it with a clothespin, but the fabric is barely deformable and bends, and looks lumpy. I had to store the food in a hermetically sealed container.
Why am I underlining this, you ask?
The dry food must be stored in a hermetic bag without water, light and air, otherwise it will become inapplicable.
The amounts of food are very individual and depend not only on the age and weight of the dog, but also on the food itself, because different dog food brands provide food with different calorie content.

Ingredients:
Fresh chicken meat (16%), chicken meal (13%), turkey meal (12%), red lentils, whole green peas, fresh chicken giblets (liver, heart, kidney) (7%), chicken fat (7%), fresh whole eggs (4%), fresh whole flounder (4%), herring meal (3%), herring oil (2%), sun-cured alfalfa, green lentils, field beans, whole yellow peas, pea fiber, fresh chicken cartilage (2%), dried brown kelp, fresh whole pumpkin, fresh whole butternut squash, fresh whole parsnips, fresh kale, fresh spinach, fresh mustard greens, fresh turnip greens, fresh whole carrots, fresh red delicious apples, fresh Bartlett pears, freeze-dried chicken liver, freeze-dried turkey liver, fresh whole cranberries, fresh whole blueberries, chicory root, turmeric, milk thistle, burdock root, lavender, marshmallow root, rose hips.
There is nothing to complain about, but in my opinion, the chicken is not the best option because many dogs are allergic to chicken.
Our experience:
The beads are small, 6 mm in diameter, brown like almost all dog food.
The smell is bearable for a human and appetizing for the dog.
The food is very greasy and stains the hands, this is not an option for a walk.
The beads were too tough for the puppy when he was three months old, and we had to moisten them.
Our puppy with his 1.5 kilos needed 40 grams of dry food, according to the guidelines provided by the manufacturer.
In the first few days, the puppy ate everything, but then he started leaving food in the bowl. The amount of leftover was getting bigger and in the end our puppy ate only 20-25 g instead of the recommended 40 g.
After a week we saw hair dandruff and it was getting worse. The puppy was always restless and scratched himself constantly. Even after washing with a special shampoo, the dandruff was still there.
Unfortunately, many Yorkshire Terriers are allergic to chicken, and ours is no exception.
We had to do without this dry food. But many of our friends have been buying it for years, and their dogs (belonging to other breeds) are okay.
On the whole, this is a good choice for a small breed dog, but you should always pay attention to the health of the dog.
For Yorkshire Terriers and those with sensitive digestion, I do not recommend it.
