Hello everyone on this website!

I’d really like to share my experience with you concerning one of the most popular organic toners.

Volume: 355 ml.

It’s a flip-top bottle. The plastic isn’t too thick, but considering its weight, it’s better not to drop the bottle, as it can break easily.

Product detail:

Made of extract from the Witch Hazel shrub (Hamamelis Virginiana) and a blend of other time-tested ingredients – THAYERS® Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera Formula Astringents and Alcohol-Free Toners are soothing, natural treatments that cleanse, tone and soothe your skin. THAYERS® are the only Witch Hazel products made of non-distilled extract from the Witch Hazel shrub maintaining the highest levels of therapeutic tannins.

These natural elixirs have been a fixture in medicine cabinets for generations. Once you use them, you’ll know why.

To tell the truth, I’d never seen any point to all those toners before, ‘cause their only task is to neutralize the impact of hard water. So I don’t really get the point of them. Besides, the water quality isn’t so bad in my city. But I have a serious skin problem - rosacea, that’s why I usually use only soothing products. The problem cannot be solved completely, as it’s hardly possible to cure affected blood vessels by using cosmetics, but it can prevent acne and improve your skin.

Although, not all manufacturers consider it necessary to add soothing ingredients.

So I came up with the idea to use toner. By using toner I could stop using creams to get rid of redness.

My impressions:

The toner looks like water. It smells like cucumber, but the smell disappears quickly.

It refreshes your skin after you apply it. After a while it becomes obvious that your skin complexion evens out and the redness fades. Plus, it doesn’t interact with other products.

I didn’t expect anything else, but in 3 days something bad happened. My skin became more sensitive. At the time, I had been using some new products, with ingredients that were far from harmless. That’s why I decided to drop them first. But it was useless, as my skin became so sensitive, that it was hard to touch it. On the 7th day red spots appeared on my forehead.

I didn’t use anything after that, except for Toleriana Ultra which suited me well for a long time. On the second day the red sports started fading and my skin sensitivity decreased. Frankly speaking, I couldn’t believe how such a harmless toner could cause such a reaction. A month later, I decided to use it for the second time and all the symptoms were back. While studying other reviews about Thayers and Madre Labs toners, which had the same ingredients, it became clear that I was not the only who faced this problem.

Ingredients:

Almost all of the ingredients are quite harmless. I’ve never suffered from a citrus allergy, so I was puzzled by the reaction. I gave this toner to my girlfriend at the moment. She’s been using it for more than a month and she’s happy with it.

The toner is decent, but having faced this problem, I wouldn’t recommend buying it. It’s hard to know how it will react with your skin, so it seems like a game of Russian roulette.
