A few months, ago neon shades have become super hyped and trendy in makeup. Since I still haven’t found my Holy Grail neon eyeshadows, I opted for the neon Gel Liners from ColourPop.

Packaging: it’s very cheap-looking. The refill leads are crooked and shattering around the casing. The casing is plastic and color-coded with the product inside. It’s retractable so you won’t have to sharpen it.

For this makeup, I also used the Smashbox Cover Shot eyeshadow palette. While swatching the products, the teal and orange ones broke down.
Application: they apply like a dream on my waterline, very smoothly and brightly. The formula doesn’t irritate my eyes and I don’t have to press them much or pack the coverage.

However, they’re a trouble to apply over my nude lids or on top of other eyeshadows: I have to spend about 5 minutes on each of my eyes, packing the coverage and applying them with strokes. The refill is stiff and dry, so the application isn’t pleasant at all. Besides, the texture clumps and it appears disgusting from a close distance but rather bearable and vibrant from afar.

While I was applying them, the refill broke down 2 times, even though I didn’t take much of it at all.

Staying power: these products are waterproof, so it’s likely you wash them off with water. One will have to use a cleansing oil or bi-phase micellar water to get them washed off.
They stay on well on my waterline, even though my eyes are really watery.
Overall thoughts: before purchasing them, try to make out what you need them for. If you want to use them for your waterline only, these are perfection and I highly recommend them then. But if you want to draw lines or fill in your lids with them, then stay away from these. They constantly break down and they won’t want to sit over the nude skin at all. Even the primer or other eyeshadows can’t do anything about them.
