Hello!
I’m writing this review because I want to prevent you from purchasing this palette, even though it’s been discounted for more than 6 months everywhere already.
I love the Cover FX setting powder that’s why I wasn’t even thinking back before purchasing this palette.
Oddly enough, there were a lot of positive reviews of it on Sephora. Later on, I found out why. But first things first.
The packaging here is rather simple and frills-free. The casing is actually made of thick cardboard with a magnet and a mirror inside. There was also a tutorial instruction provided.
The weight of the product is 13.5g, even though they promised 17g on the site. Whatever.
Made in Canada.
There are 4 shades in the compact - highlighting powder, highlighter and either a bronzer (which is too fair for a bronzer) or a contouring product.
The list of ingredients is okay, there’s even squalane included. Fragrance-free, though I can still make out some playdough aroma, especially from the darkest shades.
It’s better to apply them prior to your foundation, because if you use it over a lightweight tinting fluid, it’ll be easily dissolved with the products, while with a thicker foundation, your face will look too cakey and mask-esque.
The products are easy to blend out and they seem to be really waterproof because their texture is rather greasy (I can see that there’s a lot of beeswax in the ingredients lists).
So, be ready to face oily shine after a couple of hours of application, despite powder setting.
The next is the shades. I have nothing bad to say only about the fairest shade - except its greasiness. In fact, I use it as a fair concealer. The most bearable shade from this palette is the highlighter. It offers a rather delicate glow and looks noble on the skin. But the other two are terrible. They never make my complexion sun-kissed or sculpted. I only look like covered with orange and dark spots, given that I own this palette in the fairest color.
By the way, as for the positive reviews on Sephora, I can see the reason behind it. This palette will be nice for everyone with yellow skin undertone.
But if your skin is paler, toss this palette, it’ll never suit you.
My verdict - no, no and once again no. Don’t waste your money on this failure. There are a thousand better dupes on the market nowadays.
2 stars only for those 2 shades or more or less working highlighter.
