Hello! I could have never had a thought that one day I would consciously go and buy a Morphe eyeshadow palette for me. The thing is that usually, the Morphe palettes include 35 shades which don’t really hook me. Besides, the palettes themselves are said to be made of the cheapest plastic and stink like there’s no tomorrow. Moreover, one palette includes too many shades that look too similar. :)But here, I found out that the brand also releases these small babes of 9 shades all in all. Such a palette still looks pleasant and even has a mirror. I was too curious, and the price also seems rather affordable, 12 bucks, why not take it. Plus, my recent positive experience with their highlighter really pushed me for the purchase.
Product info:
Brand: Morphe
Full name: Morphe 9G OH MY GORG ARTISTRY PALETTE
Refill size: 13.5g (1.5g each)
Made in China
Shelf life: 12 months
Price: $12
Packaging: the palette was packed in this box.
The back of it has all the product info like the list of ingredients and so on:
The main issue of all the Morphe palettes is that they’re too easy to soil.
Let’s open it: here we have a huge and handy mirror. It doesn’t distort the image. It won’t open up horizontally, so it’s angled and safe. Be sure it’ll never slap open backwards.
In the palette, we have 6 shimmering and 3 matte shades. But in fact, only 5 are shimmering, 1 satin and 3 mattes.
The color selection is so fall-like!
The first line:
Sashay is shimmer pink-pearl shade:
Catwalk is satin purple and the most screwing color. But I’ll tell you all the deets later…
Filter is a matte pale peach:
The second line
The third line: Hot Glam is golden and glistening:
Pose is terracotta matte:
Headshot is matte nut-brown:
Swatches (with my finger, no primer):
Ad now I’ll tell you about the issues with the Catwalk shade. The thing is that it’s too tightly pressed. So, it’s impossible to pick up. Even when I move my finger here and there, it feels like I’m rubbing a rock!
Swatches from the left to the right of Catwalk: one layer with my finger, with my finger and packed, a swatch with a flat dry brush, a swatch with a damp brush.
Yes, the damp brush will grab some pigment but still, I don’t think it’s worth all that mumbo-jumbo. There’s nothing beautiful about it. In fact, when I swatched it for the first time, I was dumbfounded. What the hell? How could they do something like that from a really pigmented eyeshadow? Besides, include that mess into the palette with great pigmentation!
Texture and impressions of use:
If we can ignore the Catwalk shade, I like this palette! The matte shades are awesome pigmented!
The shimmering colors are a little bit worse in quality but I still love them! My favorite one is that dark-bog-green Strut. In the palette, it’s so plain and moss green but on my eyes, it opens up with a gentle-green slightly duochrome shade!
The products do fall out but it isn’t so critical.
The application is smooth, and the matte shades are best to blend! On my hooded prepped eyes they stay on during the day and don’t fade away.
And the most important thing... they don’t smell at all.
Then I decided to compare 9G Oh My Gorg with one more fall eyeshadow palette ColourPop Good Sport.
They have some similar matte shades and also those golden and green ones.
The first swatches are from ColourPop, followed by Morphe.
The greens are still different, while the rest ones are alike. I think these two palettes will form a great match!
