The lipstick that has literally blown me away! Now I’m its fan for good!
It’s the first time I’ve tried Revlon and am totally happy about it now.
When I’d used up my ArtDeco lipstick, I picked up Revlon Colorstay Lip Liner and Revlon Colorstay Overtime Lipcolor.
Country: USA
Price point: ca. $9 for a lipcolor
I love both products! The lip liner is just a little bit worse than Artdeco, but the price is also adequate.
Here is my lipstick…
I’ve chosen the wine-red color that would be more appropriate for an evening look with its dark and cold undertone.
Product description from the manufacturer:
Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor is a dual ended lipcolor which coats your lips with full coverage color and shine for up to 16 hours with no touch-ups needed! This long wearing lipcolor has color-lock technology that doesn’t feather or bleed. The glossy topcoat is enriched with chamomile and soy extract for moisture-rich, shiny, soft lips. Available in 26 shades.
In fact, it really does what is says on the tin!
The Revlon Colorstay Overtime Lipcolor is a dual ended product.
How to use:
Step 1: apply lipcolor evenly to clean, bare lips and wait until dry.Step 2: brush on topcoat. Reapply as desired. To remove: use any oil or cream based makeup remover or cleanser.
At first you should apply the lipstick, but be careful when doing it! It sets in tracks, plus the payoff is really intense.
You should apply it slowly, so that the color is even without any streaking. I couldn’t do it in the first go, by the way. After application let it dry and leave on 30 secs.
After applying the second coat, apply the gloss.
When I first decided to try the lipstick, I underestimated it. Who knew that if the shade didn’t suit me, I wouldn’t be able to remove it! The product seemed a little bit too dark for me for everyday use, so I tried to remove it, but it was useless! I rubbed my lips with a napkin, tried removing it with water, soap and micellar water. In vain! The lipstick lasted 12 hours!
So I decided to carry out my experiment one more time especially for you.
My lips without any makeup.
I have an asymmetric face… It’s obvious if you look at it closely.
In the photo I’ve applied one coat of the lip liner and the lipcolor. The coverage reminds me of nail polish.
Here is the next coat, which is already glossy:
Now I’d like to carry out an experiment and show you the staying power of the lipcolor. Firstly, I tried to remove it with water and dry towel:
Next with micellar water and a thick coat of soap:
Outcome: the glossy layer is gone, plus the lip liner has faded, but the lipstick is still firm in place!
I’ve never tried a more long-lasting lippie in my life!
So Revlon Colorstay Overtime Lipcolor wears 12 hours on me. I think that the formula is designed in such a way that it dissolves in 12 hours thus removing easily.
The feel
The manufacturer states that the product contains chamomile, soy extract and vitamin E, but I won’t call it particularly moisturizing. I’d say that it even dries out my lips a little, which is to be expected since the lipcolor is extremely long-lasting. In addition, it feels like a nail polish on my lips, but the coverage is very light and quite comfortable.
It’s not an everyday lipstick, but it would be great to always have it in my makeup bag, especially when it comes to some special occasions.
I definitely recommend this lipstick and plan on repurchasing myself!
