Tom Ford - so much meaning in that name. Here’s style, sex, and luxury in one. He is definitely the person who makes us love or hate his work or do both at once. But you can’t be indifferent for sure.
My long awaited acquaintance with the brand I started with the Black Orchid and a lipstick, when I also received a mini of the lipstick. So, these are the heros of my review today.
The first full-sized lipstick was presented to me by my sweetheart and it was the 04 Indian Rose shade. But I couldn’t wear it because the color wasn’t mine.
But the mini in the color True Coral seemed to be more like my cup of tea and I liked it. I’ll start with the design description. All of Tom’s lipsticks have stylish cases of black and golden colors of good quality plastic. By the way, be sure that the plastic will willingly collect all your fingerprints.
The texture of the lipstick is thick, but it isn’t dry. I layer it over my lips and there’s even no need to rub my lips together. I have to tell you that it might be a tricky task to apply it evenly, though. All my flaking skin bits become visible at once.
The lipstick offers dewy satin finish, but within approximately an hour, it feels as though the formula sets on my lips, given that I didn't eat or talk. Not such a pleasant sensation, you know. To top it off, the lipstick disappears from the inside of my mouth one more hour later. It stays only on the edges of my lips, making me touch-up a lot.
The lipstick has a pretty chasing aroma, which is sweet and luscious. The smell doesn’t stay long on my lips. I hardly ever use lip liners to pair with my lipstick, because there’s no need to use them for nude shades, but when it comes to transparent lip glosses, I prefer invisible wax liners, like the one from Dior.
Red lipsticks are always whimsical and demanding: perfect foundation, perfect lip lines, etc… And my lipstick in the shade True Coral hasn’t become an exception. But, can you see how badly my lip edges look here? I didn’t have a matchy lip liner in my collection, but I always change it with the mentioned above invisible liner in such cases. And here I also followed my technique. However, if you don’t look very close, you won’t see that mishap.
Despite being not long-wearing, the formula still manages to get into my lips and I can never get rid of it with a dry cotton round. I always have to use a makeup remover.
Buying those products, the sales assistant advised me to dab the lipsticks into my lips with my finger for a trendy effect. But I noticed that, if used this way, the product becomes super drying for my lips…
Too many drawbacks about the lippie that cost $55, aren’t there?…
The bottom line
Will I recommend this lipstick? Of course I won’t! At least not these two mentioned above shades. Two stars only for a pride feelings I experience when I take this lipstick out of my purse because this is Tom Ford after all...
