After I ran out of my favorite eye cream I started looking for a substitute since my fave was way too expensive for such a little jar.
I thought I found a suitable eye cream when I bought this one from E.L.F. Cosmetics.
Weight: 0,5 oz.
Price: $10
The cream is housed in a green jar of frosted glass with a screw top and a plastic lid.
Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Glycerin, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Butyrospermum Parkii (shea) Butter, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Carbomer, Trehalose, Triethanolamine, Bisabolol, Tocopheryl Acetate (Ve), Disodium EDTA, Green Tea Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin
Formula: a thick white cream
Promises:
Hydrate the eye area and minimize dark circles with this rich formula that nourishes and deeply hydrates the skin with jojoba, vitamin E, and cucumber.
All e.l.f. skincare products are free from Parabens, Sulfates, and Phthalates.
How to use:
- Gently dab the cream over the eyelids and the under eye area to soothe and nourish.
- Use morning and night after cleansing along with a daily moisturizer.
Application:
It’s a frustrating process since it’s impossible to pick up a small amount of the product. It’s either almost nothing or way too much. So I adapted a little spoon for this.
It doesn’t cause any discomfort, even though I read in some reviews that the cream may make skin burn. I haven’t noticed any irritation or such. The cream soaks in instantly without a trace.
Results:
That’s when a wave of disappointment swept over me. After my miraculous Estee Lauder cream worked wonders with my eyes, this one is completely useless except for a bit of moisturizing effect. But it doesn’t fight dark circles or provide a healthy glow. I didn’t add any photos since there is nothing to show you at all.
Pluses:
Capacity. Usually eye creams come in smaller jars. On the one hand it’s good, but on the other hand you have to wait a long time till the jar is empty.
Price: $10 vs around $50 for a high end product, and the jar is much bigger.
Minuses:
Zero effect, only a bit of moisture.
The bottom line: the E.L.F. Illuminating Eye cream was a total disappointment! My wish to skimp played a vicious joke on me and I want to run out of the cream as soon as possible. I even use it for the whole face and like it even better because of the moisture it provides without stickiness.
I’ll be using it this way and look for alternatives.
