Hello there!

I met the Tatcha brand a long time ago, since 2015 it has always been on my Insta feed, their products were widely advertised by many beauty bloggers and Hollywood star makeup artists.

I decided to give a go to several products from this brand. One of them has become this Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser.

Main product info:

Fill weight - 150 and 50ml

Price: $38 for the fill weight and $15 for a travel-friendly sample.

Made in Japan.

Shelf life - 6 months

Animal cruelty-free.

Outer appearance:

The plastic tube is mint-colored. I have a travel-size version but it’s identical with the full size and the only difference might be in the quality of performance.

The tube is made of soft plastic and I literally have to squeeze the product out of it.

The consistency of the gel is too thick and gooey for such a tube. Sometimes I have to squeeze it very hard to gel a pea-sized drop out of this nozzle.

However, there’s still a way out. Just turn the tube upside down and shake it. For many years, they’ve been begging the brand to change the packaging but somehow, they refuse to do so.

Ingredients:

Aqua/Water/Eau, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Propanediol, Glycerin, Acrylates Copolymer, Coco-Betaine, Saccharomyces/Camellia Sinensis Leaf/Cladosiphonokamuranus/Rice Ferment Filtrate*, Luffa Cylindrica Fruit/Leaf/Stem Extract, Luffa Cylindrica Fruit, Sodium Lauroyl Hydrolyzed Silk, Rosa Multiflora Fruit Extract, Belamcanda Chinensis Root Extract, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Chloride, Polyglyceryl-10 Dioleate, Polyglyceryl-2 Sesquicaprylate, Butylene Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tetrasodium Edta, Parfum/Fragrance, Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol

The product is said to be non-comedogenic and dermatologically-tested. It’s formulated without mineral oil, parabens, DEA, TEA, sulfates, phthalates and synthetic fragrances.

The product wasn’t tested on animals.

They claim it’s:

A daily gel cleanser with natural fruit exfoliant that deeply but gently lifts impurities and unclogs pores, while leaving skin soft and hydrated.

About the gel:

At first sight, it’s just a regular cleansing gel that is a little bit thicker in consistency. But its main feature is in its small fibers of luffa fruit. The gel distinctively smells of herbs.

That fiber is soft and doesn’t peel off my skin. It’s here to gently exfoliate dead skin cells and deeply cleanse pores.

How to use:

Begin with wet hands and wet face. Squeeze a small amount into palms and rub together to create a creamy foam. Gently massage the face avoiding the eye area and rinse thoroughly. Can be used daily.

You can follow two ways of use - rub it in your palms and apply the foam on your face or apply it right on your face and then start massaging it. Honestly, I don’t see any significant difference in these two ways. However, I love the foam version more. It feels more pleasant for me.

You won’t need much of the product for one use, just a small pea-sized drop.

The product is easy to lather and wash off from my skin.

My own impressions:

As much as I'd like to oppose it, I have to say the product is among my favorite cleansers list.

First of all, it feels like a spa at home when I use it. Secondly, the product really deeply cleanses my skin, even though it lathers. After use, I don’t experience any discomforting feelings like skin tugging or dryness. The third is that I love the idea of mixing a skin cleanser and a gentle exfoliator (again, thanks to the luffa fruit). I even forget to use my favorite Korean peeling gel. Now, I don’t see any point in it. In fact, I can see the results of this product working on me. My skin is smoother and so clean.

The gel is said to be good for all skin types. Mine is mixed and sensitive and it feels great with this cleanser. Exactly what I need. I haven’t ever suffered any skin irritation from this product, even though my skin is prone to that.

The maker claims the gel for daily use but for me, that’s too much. I usually use it as a second step in my skin cleansing, after an oil so as to wash off all the leftovers of my makeup and skin sebum.

The only thing which I don’t really welcome is this wacky packaging. It ruins all the enjoyment from the product. I hope they’ll change it in the future. I give it 4 stars for that gripe.

Thanks for your attention!
