My hair is thin and volume-less and natural shampoos and conditioners suit it best of all. I turned down organic face care cosmetic around a year ago, but I take care of my hair only with organic and natural products. I love and respect the Desert Essence brand and I buy their products with a great pleasure. Currently, I use 3 hair conditioners: grapes, raspberry and lemon. The last one is my fave, so I’d like to speak about it today.
They claim that the lemon conditioner takes care of oily hair and tea tree extract makes the result last longer. Is it really as good as described and helps to prevent greasy hair? You’ll find out in my review.
My hair is thin, oily, as well as rare and I have flaky scalp. Sounds “great”, isn’t it?
From the hair conditioner I need my hair to stay fresh and clean longer. It’s summer now and my hair becomes oily 100 times faster which doesn’t look pleasant. So, buying this conditioner, first of all, I was hoping not to wash my hair everyday and that it would still look decent in the evening. Secondly, I wanted this organic conditioner to make my hair shine and silky. I also didn’t want it to weigh my hair down, as many other silicone products do. So, these are all my demands for the hair conditioner. As you can see, I don’t have any unreal demands and don’t want to wait for it to work wonders.

Desert Essence, Lemon Tea Tree Conditioner, 8 fl oz (237 ml)
Ingredients:
Desert Essence, Lemon Tea Tree Conditioner, 8 fl oz (237 ml)
Color: the conditioner has the creamy color
Scent: it smells like lemon, a bit sour, but fresh and intense. I don’t feel the notes of tea tree.
Texture-wise, the product is thick but melts in my hands when rubbed. It spreads on my hair very quickly and becomes transparent. If there’s a lot of water on your hair, the conditioner will flow down.

Use and my impressions:
My hair is: oily, thin, dull, rare, short (shoulder length), dyed and washed everyday.
Among the pile of my balms, conditioners and masks, most of all I use the lemon conditioner. Because, first of all, I love its citrus fresh aroma with some sour agent; secondly, it makes my hair stay cleaner and fresher (not much, but still). Since I wash my hair everyday, the product doesn’t go a long way. I finished this tube up in 3 months, even though I was using it only 2-3 days a week. All the Desert Essence conditioners must be applied on hair that is well squeezed out. My hair is shoulder length and I apply the walnut-size amount of conditioner. I apply it on the tips of my hair and then spread the rest all over leaving out the roots.
I usually wait for 5 mins, but actually 1-2 mins is rather enough. It’s just the right time for me to wash off my make-up. But sometimes, if I have plenty of time, I make a hair mask with this conditioner. I apply this product on my hair, cover it with clingfilm and then cover with my towel to nourish my hair with wholesome ingredients. After this mask, my hair smells of lemon for quite a long time and it’s shining and soft to the touch. This product does no harm to my hair, as it doesn’t dry it out, or tangle or make it volume-less.
Result: my hair is dried without hairdryer and I didn't use flat iron

No matter how much time I keep the conditioner on my hair, it doesn’t affect the way it becomes greasy. I mean it doesn’t actually help it to stay fresh any longer. If we compare the grapes version with lemon, then grapes wins, as it makes my hair stay fresh till the next day after I washed my hair, but as for lemon version, no. I have to wash it every day.
The scent of this conditioner disappears in a hour or so. After the wash and dry of my hair I like to enjoy this fresh aroma. I’d like the scent to last longer.
Since the day I started using this hair conditioner, my dandruff has decreased. Earlier I used to use the grapes conditioner (since fall till the end of winter), and there wasn’t much dandruff, but still I could see it on my hair. And from February till May, I started to use the lemon and raspberry conditioners and the dandruff decreased. I think that it’s because of the tea tree extracts.
I can’t say that a little goes a long way, but I know that silicone containing conditioners last way longer than organic ones. Maybe the fault is in me, and I apply too much. But I like to apply a lot of hair conditioner, as only this way, I can be sure that all the hairs will get sufficient nourishing:)

Desert Essence
If you ask me, I find this product as a perfect one for its price segment. This conditioner will be ideal for those who have oily roots and dry tips. It won’t make your hair stay fresher, but won’t affect it becoming greasy either. Moreover, this conditioner has amazing scent, it makes my hair soft and smooth to the touch, and it also helps to detangle it well.
I give it 4 stars and take away one star for the inflated promises.
I recommend it for buying, and will buy it myself again and again!
