Since I started caring about my scalp, my hair has improved drastically. It’s been two years since I use all kinds of hair tonics and serums. At this point, I’m finishing my bottle of this tonic essence from the popular Korean brand Innisfree.
The tonic essence comes in a plastic dark brown bottle. The housing is simple but I like it and associate it with something cozy like black tea.
There is a dispenser. The tonic essence comes out in tiny drops and should be sprayed right onto the scalp.
There is no cap at all, only this nozzle:
Fragrance: the essence smells of real mint.
WATER, ALCOHOL, PEG-60 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL,
PANAX GINSENG ROOT EXTRACT, CAMELLIA SINENSIS LEAF EXTRACT, PANTHENOL, SALICYLIC ACID, MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA (TEA TREE) LEAF OIL, THUJA ORIENTALIS SEED EXTRACT, OPUNTIA COCCINELLIFERA FRUIT EXTRACT, CAMELLIA JAPONICA LEAF EXTRACT,
ORCHID EXTRACT, CITRUS UNSHIU PEEL EXTRACT, ACORUS CALAMUS ROOT EXTRACT, CRYPTOMERIA JAPONICA LEAF EXTRACT, PINUS
PINASTER BARK/BUD EXTRACT, CHAMAECYPARIS OBTUSA WATER, CINNAMOMUM CAMPHORA LEAF EXTRACT, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, ARGININE, CITRIC ACID, SODIUM BENZOATE, MENTHOL, FRAGRANCE.
I spray the essence on my hair lines and then massage it into my scalp. It absorbs quickly, leaving no sticky or oily feeling. It makes the brushing process easier.
I like how it soothes my scalp.
And now its pros are over.
I didn’t make my hair stronger, as it promised. On the contrary, my hair started falling out more. I don’t suffer from hair fallout, and my hair is pretty weak, but I have hip-length hair so I suppose my roots are strong enough to hold it.
Anyway, I saw that there was more hair on my hair brush, and I saw my hair fall out throughout the day. Not that I blame this essence, but my previous products of this kind were of help against this problem, while this one turned out to be rather useless.
Summary: I think this Tonic Essence doesn’t live up to its promises. I can give it 3 stars because of the soothing and refreshing feeling it provides, it can even soothe a headache. But I cannot recommend it, still, because it doesn’t do what it must.
