Pros: doesn’t dry my hair out, doesn’t irritate sensitive scalp skin, doesn’t tangle hair, lathers well
Cons: no moisture effect

My highly-porous hair is damaged, dyed and requires proper care. What can be better than add moisture to it? So this is how I found the Extra Moist shampoo by Shiseido.

1. OUTER LOOK

The whole collection of these products looks rather unusual to me. First of all there’s a sicker which isn’t in the way here, I think. Though I can see a good marketing manager’s job done, as the sticker visually makes the bottle look bigger.

But for me it was so annoying, as I couldn’t rip it off.

I didn’t manage at one dash and had to rip the remaining part off, which took a long time, uhh.

And also the products are of interesting design at the top. I can clearly see some shape abstraction.

The shampoo has a pusher pump dispenser which can’t be closed up after the first use.

2. DESCRIPTION AND INGREDIENTS

On the bottle the information was presented only in Japanese, but there was a sticker with some information in English.

Formulated with camellia oil and rice malt extracts, the Tsubaki Extra Moist Shampoo keeps your hair superbly soft and moisturized all day, from inside to outside. The soothing scent of camellia nectar and fruit gives your hair an elegant aroma.

And the list of ingredients:

Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium taurine cocoyl methyltaurate, Sodium cocoamphoacetate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycol Distearate, Dipropylene glycol, Cocamide MEA, Sorbitol, Sodium chloride, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Polyquaternium-7, Camellia Reticulata Seed Oil, Polyquaternium-61, Citric Acid, Locust Bean Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, bis-isobutyl PEG-14, amodimethicone copolymer, Sodium methyl lauroyl taurate, Potassium Cocoyl Glutamate, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, PCA ethyl cocoyl arginate, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate, Fragrance, Pigment CONDITIONER: Water, Sorbitol, Dipropylene glycol, Stearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, hydroxypropyldimethylamine, stearoxy ether, Glutamic Acid, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Amodimethicone, PEG-90M, Steartrimonium chloride, Camellia japonica, Polyquaternium-61, Cetyl Alcohol, Mineral Oil, bis-isobutyl PEG-14, amodimethicone copolymer, Isoceteth-10, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, PCA ethyl cocoyl arginate phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

3. CONSISTENCY AND AROMA

The consistency is fairly usual for a shampoo. It’s gel-like, silicony, thick to some extent and of mother-of-pearl color. This shampoo lathers richly.

The aroma is tender, floral and smells like a real camellia. It isn’t off-putting or anything.

4. USE AND RESULT

I use it as a standard shampoo and there was nothing outstanding in the use of it. This product fulfills all my demands:

Smile it washes my hair and scalp well. I didn’t notice any “fresh head” longevity by the way, I just keep washing my hair as frequently as usual.

Smile doesn’t tangle my hair

Smile doesn’t make them heavy

I use this shampoo along with the conditioner by the same brand.

As I’ve already said, my hair is highly-porous. The ends are dry but not as much as it may seem in the photo. If I don’t use any styling products, then my hair is relatively pleasant to the touch. But I kill this frizziness only with the special products. In the photo you can see my hair as it is after the use of shampoo along with the conditioner. And honestly, I haven’t noticed any Extra Moist effect in comparison with any other shampoo of mine.

I was expecting for my hair to become more moisturised and smooth, but alas I didn’t get it. My other mass-market shampoo which costs way less did a better job in terms of moisture.

So, in general I can assess the Extra Moist line with 4 stars. As it:

Sad doesn’t give extra moisture to my hair

The bottom line: The Extra Moist shampoo (and a conditioner as well) works as a usual average pro-line shampoo. There’s nothing special in it, except for the high price, of course. But still it washes my hair well and I can recommend it for purchasing. Just want to take away one star for the idle promises.
