When I bought the Matte Setting Powder from COVER FX, I already knew that I’d need a special brush for its application. At that time I had some shitty drugstore brush, which used to scratch my skin each time I used it. And it was my dream to replace it with some other good quality and soft brush.
But of course I didn’t want to splurge $42 on this Cover FX brush. However, I wanted a brush to pair with my powder. Besides, I read so many rave reviews of it online. There were no chance for me to resist. Moreover, if the brush is good that means that it’s a long-term investment, right?
So, here it is, my precious couple:
1. Packaging
The brush retails with this plastic casing, which I keep on using even now when I'm travelling, for example.
2. Brush
The brush is about 17.5 cm. It’s rather lightweight, though I can feel that the brush isn’t cheap. The lettering doesn’t fade or chip from the handle. The metallic ferrule that keeps the bristles together doesn’t get damaged after washing.
3. Bristles
The cut of the brush is tapered and domed. It is densely packed. The bristles are synthetic, but they claim that synthetic Natrafil® fibers provide the feel and texture of natural hair for a flawless application and seamless blending (this is mostly because of the brand’s position, they are totally cruelty-free and vegan-friendly).
I’ve never had natural bristled brushes. (Except those which I use for painting, LOL) But this Cover FX brush is so soft to the touch, guys, you can’t even imagine it! I adore applying my powder with it. It’s true pleasure and satisfaction for me. Even when my skin was irritated and flaking, I still didn’t experience any nasty sensation or anything. No rubbing when I work with this brush.
3. Use
The brush is to apply powder all over the skin, (that’s why it’s called Powder Brush). However, I also find it nice to apply any other loose or pressed makeup products like blusher, bronzer or highlighter.
I can even use this brush not only to apply my makeup finishing products, but also for blending and buffing.
But most frequently I still use it for finishing products, to set my makeup and make my complexion appear matte. Now I use my Matte Setting Powder and apply it with this brush. By the way, it's so good that I bought them together.
I really appreciate that the bristles of the brush don’t pick up too much of the powder and apply it with a seamless layer.
Overall
My experience with this Cover FX brush has proved to me that it’s a gorgeous brush. I’m head over heels with it and never regret splurging. It’s absolutely worth the money it costs!
