I guess it’s time I’ll tell you about my loyal friend and irreplaceable helper when it comes to my eye makeup and swatching eyeshadows. Here it is, Put A Lid On It from The Balm.

Sometimes it feels as though I devour eyeshadow primers. This product hooked me with its handy tube of the cutest design and naturally big size. There’s 11.8ml of it all in all. Given that I need the tiniest drop of it for one use, it will last a long time.

The primer is as though silicone by touch. Even though it’s beige in color, it doesn’t cover up my skin at all. I also can’t make out any smell. The formula is skin-friendly and doesn’t dry it out or provoke an allergic reaction, at least for those 6 months that I’ve been using it. It’s never a problem to distribute the formula on my eyelids. I usually press out a small drop of it and then apply it on my eyes with my fingertips.

I’ve already mentioned the spending. It’s minimal. I’ve been using it for 6 months daily (sometimes I can even use it several times a day) + I always swatch something. And for that time, I still didn’t even use half of it.

So, what does it do? This primer just like “sticks” to my eyelids and holds even the Moondust eyeshadows which still stays in place through the end of the day. My eyelids are average and usually, if not primed, eyeshadows crease within 2-3 hours on me. With this primer, they stay on great till the moment I remove them.

I guess this product will be best for anyone with dry or average in oiliness eyelids. If your lids are very oily, I’m afraid this product won’t bear it. When it’s super hot or I wear my eyeshadows extremely long, I’m always on the urge of feeling that my eyeshadows are about to crease any minute. It feels as though the primer breaks through. I guess this feeling will be constant for you if your eyelids are oily. As for other primers, I have never experienced anything like that with the Urban Decay or NYX Proof It primers.

No primer above and with a primer were applied the lower swatches. I used a brush to apply them.

In a word, the primer is excellent unless your skin isn’t oily. It mostly suits dry and normal skin types, in my humble opinion. Also, I used to use it as a primer for my extremely dry matte lipsticks. They were smoother and more gliding to apply on top of it. It’s a lifehack for you if you bought this product and somehow it doesn’t work on you.
