Hello there!

I’ve tried almost all the lip products from Dior. I especially love their lipsticks and lip glosses from the Addict collection. And today I want to tell you about this hyped Dior Addict Lacquer Stick which I was dreaming to have for a long time because of the promised lacquer finish.

I have it in the most beautiful, gentle and versatile shade (in my book), #550 Tease.

The tube looks cute, original, not heavy yet still a bit bulky. In fact, the design is inspired by the Addict collection. Smile

When I applied the product for the first time over my chapped and non-perfect lips, I was so upset. It didn’t live up to my expectations at all. The coverage was settled into my lip fine lines. Besides all my lip blemishes were so visible. In fact, after that, I threw it somewhere deep in my vanity.

However, some time later, I decided to give it another try and then I was pleased to see the results. Here I applied it with 1 coat:

And then it struck me. This lip product is for almost perfect lips only!

I think you can see it yourself that the coverage doesn’t look great here. Even though the drawbacks aren’t so critical…

The product doesn’t show any lacquer visible finish. I’d say that it’s more vinyl-like. Two coats reveal more or less glossy and lacquer effect but it’s still not what we are used to seeing from the gold standard YSL lip lacquers.

The product doesn’t dry out my lips, that’s true. However, it doesn’t nurture them either.

It reminds me of the Shine Lover from Lancome and the limited edition KissKiss LoveLove lipstick from Guerlain. However, the Lancome product used to be more lip-friendly, hence glossy. I could feel that it was filled with a lot of oils and other emollient ingredients. Shade-wise, it is reminiscent with the #124 and #321 of Shine Lover. Have a look at the swatches. The Dior product is in the middle.

In the pictures, you can see that the Lovers are easy to distribute because their texture is lighter and dewier!

The staying power of the Dior Lacquer is rather good. However, it doesn’t go a long way. Look here, in this photo, I used the product for a couple of times only!

It won’t go a long way, ever!

Overall

  • the lacquer finish is pathetic and can be revealed only over perfect lips

  • it defines flaking skin over chapped lips

  • the shade is beautiful and versatile pink. It’ll be good for any occasion

  • it doesn’t dry out my lips

  • the tube is handy and cute-looking

  • it is pricey but don’t forget about sales

  • it neither moistens nor smoothes out my lips

  • the spending is huge

I can recommend it to you if your lips are always in the great condition and you long for a lipstick with a glossy yet not really lacquer finish.

I definitely DON’T recommend it for people with problematic lips, like mine. I have to admit that, even though I’m in love with the shade, this product isn’t for me (unlike the Dior Addict Lipstick or Dior Addict with the gel center).

Thanks for your attention!
