I received this mascara as a gift. Naturally, I expected something extraordinary when opening the treasured box. I thought it would be like in a commercial, when you bat your eyelashes and everyone around you falls to the ground.
This mascara is supposed to give volume and curl, according to its name.
A few words from the brand:
Experience astonishing volume and staggering curl thanks to a high-performance polymer trio. The first one wraps the lashes in extremely adherent oils to thicken the lashes. The second one, made with supple waxes, acts like a conditioner, softening the lashes so you can sculpt them into just the right shape and style. The last one acts like a finishing hairspray to set the amazing curve.
The packaging is classy, as always. On the front side of the box you can find the name of the mascara in English, on the backside- in French.
Also, the list of ingredients is to be found, let me hide it here:
The case is beautiful, golden and smooth, and looks like a box of treasures. It’s hard to believe this is plastic, not metal.
It looks expensive and leaves no doubts about what you’ve paid so much for.
The brush is straight, with middle-length bristles. Actually, this was the only criticism I’ve voiced when asked about my dream brush. I love such bristles so it’s 100% a hit.
The mascara itself has a slight cosmetic aroma, which has top, heart and base notes My eyes are pretty sensitive and I was afraid they would get irritated because of the fragrance, but they didn’t.
I own the mascara in the color 01 Noir- black.
The mascara can be removed with a cotton round soaked with micellar water. One swipe, and the mascara is on the pad, almost completely.
Well, it’s time to look at the mascara in action! One wave with the wand...at first, I thought my mascara was expired and started to dry out. I checked the batch code once again and made sure it was fresh. It only means that the dryness of the formula is intentional.
Later I figured that thanks to its thickness the mascara fixates and lifts the lashes. At the same time, such a formula doesn’t stick my eyelashes together too much and doesn't build clumps, even after the 10th coat. You have to work hard with the brush, giving the eyelashes the desired volume, length and curl, like an artist. As a result, no clumps, no spider legs.
This is what I have to deal with: my eyelashes. Not too long, not too short, of medium thickness.
And this is how the Guerlain mascara transforms my look:
As you can see, the mascara gives smoothness, length and curl. It’s not a mascara for a natural look, no. It’s for a dramatic appearance.
I had ordinary lashes, and now I have butterfly wings:
Whenever I wear this mascara, I feel like a heroine of a commercial.
My lashes don’t sink down throughout the day. The mascara doesn’t flake, but in the summer there may be stains under the outer corner of the eye. So after I few hours of wear I have to look in the mirror to make sure everything is fine. It’s not crucial but I want the look to be flawless!
I love using face foams to take off my makeup, but in this case, I end up with racoon eyes. So it’s better to use a micellar water and remove everything completely.
My general impressions are positive. I love how this mascara works wonders with my ordinary eyelashes! I don’t even have to apply an eyeliner to be happy with the effect! I don’t know, though, how long it would last with such a thick formula. I’m not sure it wouldn’t dry out earlier than expected. Nevertheless, now I’m almost completely happy with it (except for the fact that I can’t wash it off with my regular face wash and for the fallout). Anyway, absolutely recommended! The mascara provides a photoready effect like in a commercial!
