Hi everyone!

When I saw this lipstick for the first time, I thought it would be my fave. It has a beautiful nude color, and moisturizing formula, perfect for my dry lips, but the reality turned out to be harsh.

Description:

Lancôme’s L’ABSOLU ROUGE features the same amazing formula—now in a sleek, new click-to-close pack. The formula imparts high-color payoff without dryness, leaving lips comfortable for up to eight hours. It’s enriched with antioxidant-rich vitamin E to help keep lips safe from environmental aggressors so that they look and feel healthier day after day.

Price: $32 for a full-size bullet. I own a miniature.

Appearance:

I have a miniature which bears a resemblance to the full-size lipstick.

A comparison:

On the cap we can see the brand logo - a rose.

On the bottom we can find other details.

Shade and formula

My lipstick is in the color 202 Nuit & Jour. It’s a beautiful pink-peachy nude for every girl.

The formula is creamy and gives a half-transparent coverage with a glossy finish.

The lipstick has a barely perceptible fragrance which reminds me of roses.

The lipstick in use:

Right after I received and applied it, I couldn’t figure out what happened. In the mirror, I saw how it emphasized all the creases, invisible before the application.

It feels comfortable and doesn’t bleed, plus the formula is hydrating. But for some reason, it does not hydrate. On the contrary, my lips look drier after this lipstick. Also, this lipstick is not long-lasting. Even if you don’t eat or drink, it disappears after an hour. If you do, say goodbye to it immediately. Luckily, the lipstick comes off evenly, thanks to its half-transparency.

Knowing how dry my lips are, I decided to give this lipstick a second chance. Once, I applied it right after a lip balm. Before:

After:

The lipstick doesn’t look great, but believe me, it’s better in the photo than in the real life.

Next time, I decided to prep my lips thoroughly: applied a lip balm overnight, scrubbed my lips in the morning and moisturized them again.

Before:

After:Better, but still leaves much to be desired. Still creases, but there is no dryness to accentuate anymore.I like how this lipstick looks in the whole makeup, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be using it for photos only.Is this lipstick worth all the fuss? Absolutely not! In my opinion, hydrating lipsticks must cover lip imperfections and improve their condition. That’s what you expect when you buy a lipstick for $30.Summary:

pros:

  • beautiful design
  • great nude color
  • doesn’t bleed

cons:

  • accentuates all flaws
  • lips must be prepared
  • bad lasting power
  • dries lips out
  • the price is too high

I can't recommend this. There is nothing good about this lipstick but its beautiful design and color. It may suit those with perfect lips, but there aren’t many girls with perfect lips out there. So why pay so much for such a mediocre product?
