The reason I bought this palette
I used up my favorite Deborah LumiNature Bronzing Powder a really long time ago. It was an awesome bronzer in the shade 02, which was a good option for me but later the package broke and the bronzer split as well. I have some highlighters in my stash which are really my faves, one of them is the Becca Opal (mini) but it also broke after an accidental drop to the floor. As for the blush, well, I never had a good blush for me. I have one which is matte and another one in satin. Well, no reason to continue listing all the products that I have, so I’ll just say that each girl dreams of having her Holy Grail products in one palette.
When I saw this M.A.C Shiny Pretty Things Face Compact, I couldn’t believe my eyes. This palette will actually be a part of the limited edition Christmas collection, which is said to start selling in November! I googled and found out that there were some Insta shots which leaked on the web. I quickly decided to purchase this palette. So now, it’s already been three weeks of me testing it thoroughly.
Product info
Well, I’ve already mentioned that there isn’t much info available about this product but I found out that there are going to be two versions of the products: for the fair and darker skin tones. I have the Fair palette.
Extra dimension skin finish - String lights
Extra dimension blush - Sweater weather
Extra dimension bronzer - Five alarm kiss
The product weighs 14g, which is about 4.6g of each powder.
Design
When looking through some photos of the product on the net, I was wondering what the palette would actually look like in real life. It turned out to be a clutch-looking compact with a magnet closure, which isn’t light or heavy. Inside it has a good quality mirror, nicely sized refill pans and outward silver casing. My Blush brush from Real Techniques fits in there well but there isn’t much space to maneuver it.
Swatches
The powders are pleasant by touch. These are actually my first products by MAC, so I can’t compare them with the full-sizes, but I have to tell you that using these powders I don’t even reach my Tom Ford highlighter or blusher anymore.
It was a dilemma for me to decide on what highlighter to choose: the golden or pink toned.
It was a global issue. As for this very palette, here you get a warm-toned champagne highlighter which has a true pink undertone - perfection! By the way, this highlighter will never accentuate your pores or skin texture.
How it looks over my skin
-First use and mistakes
All the products apply gently, they don’t appear patchy, blend out well and build-up nicely. The wear time of any product over my skin, except tints and foundations, is shitty indeed. Out of all the three products from the palette, the highlighter shows the best staying power. The blusher isn’t very pigmented. I can’t overdo it, so I always pick up a lot and dab into my cheeks, hoping that this way it’ll stay on longer.
The main issue of this palette is the pressing. The bronzer always has some film over it. Again, maybe this is due to my skin type and dewy finish of my foundation. But the highlighter or blush don’t have such film over them.
-A multi-tasking product
Aside from the directed purpose, you can also use this palette to do your eye makeup. That’s logical and many people do that. All the products form a perfect match and they are so travel-friendly. You won’t have to carry a pile of makeup products with you, just take up this palette and that’s it. Darken your mobile lid with the bronzer, add some pink blush to the crease and highlight the inner corners of the eyes, a brow bone and the center of the mobile lid with the highlighter!
Overall
The palette is nice and handy. It isn’t just a new makeup item to the collection of a beauty junkie but also a good quality and versatile product. I can see the reason behind all the bloggers singing praises to the limited edition palettes from different brands. We all know that many makeup brands always try to treat their customers with something interesting for Christmas. By the way, you can also buy the full-sized products from this palette, once you use them up.
