Today, I’d like to tell you about the product which was released as a part of the collaborated collection of the Maybelline and Puma - Matte + Metallic Eye Duo Stick.
Product says:
Perfect for all your moments on the go, this Limited Edition eyeshadow stick works to create multiple eye makeup looks in an instant.
The collection was exclusively presented at Ulta. But now, it’s really difficult to find it available.
The product comes like this and didn’t have any additional sealing or anything. Actually, it’s a stick duo eyeshadows and it looks like this:
The design is nice and is run in the style of the limited edition collection in general. The color is gentle and pink-purple, the lettering is bright and neon. In general, the color combination is beautiful and I love it.
The product is dual-sided and each of the sides closes with top caps. The color of the cap, which is obvious is color-coded with the product inside.
The caps sit well and it’s very unlikely they’ll pop open, which makes the product rather travel-friendly.
This stick is handy because it’s compact and features 2 products at once. The eyeshadow is retractable which is some kind of a dispenser too.
In fact, it’s really handy but the packaging is so easy to soil. I mean, you won’t notice it while the product is new but after you use it for 3-4 times, you’ll get what I mean.
Weight of the stick: 14g
Size of the product: 1.65g
Made in Italy
The collection offers several shades of cream eyeshadows. Here you’ll find black, purple, red and other shades too. In fact, as far as I remember, there are 4 different color combinations there.
I opted for the shade #05 Heat/Flash, because it seemed to be the most versatile for me, even though I liked another one too.
The feature of this stick is that it has matte eyeshadow at one end and shimmering at another.
Both shades are similar in:
1. Consistency- These are cream products in a stick.
2. Texture- They’re pleasant to the touch and soft, as though lightweight yet still saturated and colorful when I put them on my skin.
3. Fragrance-free- The products don’t smell of anything which will be advantageous for anyone with a sensitive nose.
The matte shade is brown and shifting to vinous a little.
The shimmering product is glistening and it seems like something golden or copper. I associate it with autumn shades.
Matte + Metallic eye duo stick is literally gliding over my skin, leaving the color kickback on it. The coverage is rather thick and streak-free. However, there are some things I’d like to comment upon. I’ll tell you about them lower.
Ingredients:
CYCLOPENTASILOXANE TRIMETHYLSILOXYSILICATE POLYETHYLENE SYNTHETIC FLUORPHLOGOPITE LAUROYL LYSINE DICALCIUM PHOSPHATE OZOKERITE OCTYLDODECANOL CERA ALBA / BEESWAX ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE STEARYL STEARATE CALCIUM SODIUM BOROSILICATE CALCIUM ALUMINUM BOROSILICATE SILICA PARAFFIN LECITHIN DISTEARDIMONIUM HECTORITE TIN OXIDE STEARIC ACID BEHENIC ACID TOCOPHEROL PROPYLENE CARBONATE ASCORBYL PALMITATE CITRIC ACID MAY CONTAIN MICA CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 / IRON OXIDES CI 77891 / TITANIUM DIOXIDE CI 75470 / CARMINE CI 77510 / FERRIC AMMONIUM FERROCYANIDE CI 42090 / BLUE 1 LAKE CI 77510 / FERRIC FERROCYANIDE CI 77288 / CHROMIUM OXIDE GREENS
If I cover my lids with the shades, they really look vibrant and bold. However, if you start blending them (who on earth doesn’t blend eyeshadows, huh?) then your eyes will have only a minimum of the shade afterwards. I mean the finish will be semi-sheer.
Maybe, the formula needs some time to set but it’s still very important not to let it dry down or else it will be impossible to blend at all. Anyway, I always have to add more and more to get the decent color payoff on my eyes which results in huge spending of the stick that’s never been huge at all.
This is what both shades look like on my skin:
They take time to set if you layer them, like in the picture above. So, it’s better to apply lesser, blend out, wait for some time and then add more, if you feel like you need to. Otherwise, the messy finish is guaranteed.
However, once they set on your eyes, they’ll be able to show you their extreme wear time. The good staying power is always awesome but don't forget to set the coverage with powder eyeshadow on top. If you don’t, forget about any wear time at all.
They promise up to a 24-hour hold. But this is only if you fiddle about them for a while or else you’ll end up having a messy eyeshadow instead of a beautiful color base.
I love the dark shade. It’s still possible to blend into a beautiful smokey finish which looks gorgeous, especially on my lower eyelids.
But I don’t get the metallic shade at all. It neither works as an accent for my waterline nor lower lash line because the shade is too golden. So, it can be featured only for an upper lid makeup but again, only if you like it. I don’t.
Even though the product might seem handy with a pleasant texture, it’s still nothing when it comes to the performance. It pisses me off that it loses its pigmentation and I have to spend too much time to get more or less decent results.
The spending is unreasonably huge and the shades aren’t the most universal at all.
Honestly, I’m not frustrated because I bought this Matte + Metallic eye duo stick with a nice discount. I know that I’d been more frustrated if I’d bought it at the full price. You see, there are many other makeup brands which release better quality products at a more reasonable price.
Unfortunately, I can’t recommend it for purchasing.
