I’m going to tell you about a few loose powders from my collection. The undeservedly neglected Nars Soft Velvet Loose Powder is the focus of attention today.
The powder is packaged in a jar with a screw cap. The lid is made of rubberized material, which is typical for NARS. Inside there is a plastic membrane through which the powder is dispensed. No powder puff is included.
The volume is 10g.

The powder has a fine grinding, and is very soft and silky to the touch. There are no light-reflecting particles in it, it is absolutely matte.
The peculiarity of this powder, which distinguishes it from hundreds of others, is that it contains hyaluronic acid. It is supposed to visually smooth out the relief of the skin, fill wrinkles and pores, and also moisturize the skin.
As the representatives of the brand explained to me, the powder may roll into tiny balls on the protective membrane. just because of the hyaluronic acid It looks very unusual, but it does not affect the quality of the product itself.
Nars Soft Velvet Loose Powder is a typical powder of its kind, the main task of which is to set the makeup and mattify the skin.
Thanks to this powder, my normal skin remains matte throughout the day, and face shine appears only by the evening. All makeup products, applied before the powders, are set with it and last longer.
As a setting powder, it does its job great, but you can also use it as a foundation, if you need a light coverage. But your skin has to be moisturized properly beforehand, and eliminate flaking spots. The expense of the powder in this case is increased by two, or even three times, though.
There are 6 colors in the Soft Velvet Loose Powder line. My shade is Beach, and if I'm not mistaken, it is the lightest one.
It’s pretty light with a yellow undertone. It’s a bit too light for me, but it can adapt to my skintone.
When I only put the powder on my face, I see a slight difference in color on the skin, but after 5-7 minutes everything becomes harmonious.
With all the positive aspects, the powder has a few special features or even flaws.
First, it can emphasize skin flaking. For me it's not too bad, as I do not have dry skin recently, but I don’t like how it looks on the wings of my nose
And, secondly, the powder is not easy to work with. It’s applied best with tight synthetic brushes which are straight or rounded cut. It can also be applied with sponges or beauty blenders.
In my collection, the most convenient brush to work with this powder is EcoTools Bamboo Bronzer Brush.
Now let’s see how the powder looks on the skin. First, I apply the Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick Radiant Makeup.
Then I apply the Nars Soft Velvet Loose Powder with the above mentioned brush in a circular movements
Even at a close distance, my skin looks pretty decent.
This powder is my go to product which makes my makeup last from dawn to dusk, without overdrying my skin. But the product also has its own peculiarities. It did not become my favorite, but I enjoyed using it
