Pros: beautiful shades, bright packaging, easy to use, long-lasting, silky smooth texture
Cons: hefty package, smell

Hi there!

I’ll be extremely surprised if you tell me that you’ve never heard of Butter Bronzer from Physicians Formula, because the whole beauty world was raving about it some time ago. Hell yes! It had a coconut smell, awesome shade and super-cute packaging!

The only thing is that I’m not much into bronzers. I don’t see any sense in applying it to my super fair skin.

Nevertheless, the packaging haunted my mind, it was so beautiful.

One day a miracle happened and Physicians Formula released a blush with an even prettier pink package. But the main thing here was that the shades were chic. I’ve been dreaming to pick them up and so I did.

The product is available in 4 shades:

  • Plum Rose

  • Rosy Pink

  • Vintage Rouge

  • Natural Glow (it reminds me of a pink-golden highlighter or a blush topper)

The shade Plum Rose is the most popular out there, if I’m not mistaken. It was constantly out of stock.

However, I was lucky enough to grab it.

In my book, all the tones are very beautiful and a girl with any skin type can choose something suitable for her.

So, let’s start our review.

Price: $8-12

The amount of the product: 7.5 g

Country: USA

Design: On the one hand, I love the design of this blush. It’s cute, girlish and luschious.

But on the other hand, I cannot at all get why such a hefty package?

What is this useless sponge here for? Why this mirror? Yes, it’s OK, but it’s also useless. If it was not for all these, the package would take up less room in my makeup bag.

I absolutely adore the color combination of bright pink and bright green of the package. The material doesn’t look cheap. Also, I love the clasp, which opens and closes the blush very easily.

The product description:

  • Brazillian Luxury Ultra-luxurious formula, infused with Murumuru Butter, delivers a radiant Brazilian goddess glow!

  • Moisturizing wonder features ultra-refined pearl and soft-focus pigments that smooth skin texture, brighten skin tone, and deliver a gorgeous blushing glow.

  • Incredibly soft and ultra-creamy texture combines the best features of a powder and cream blush.

  • Skin-Loving Blend Infused with a powerful blend of Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter and Tucuma Butter, from the lush and nutrient-rich Amazon.

  • Mirror & Applicator Included

Formula: The blush does really remind me of soft butter. It’s finely milled and smooth. It’s so nice to the touch.

Moreover, this product is not dusty and picks up with a brush very well. I have not a gripe about the formula of this product.

They say that the blush is matte, but in my opinion, it has a rather satin finish, because it feels like it has some reflecting particles to it.

Application and pigmentation:

In terms of the pigmentation, it is medium, which is actually a plus, because it’s better to coat the blush than leave a stain on your cheeks and look like a beetroot.

A few slight swipes with a synthetic brush are enough to make my white cheeks look lively. However, I somehow managed to overdo it once.

Smell: It has a potent and very sweet coconut smell. I don’t really appreciate perfumed cosmetics, especially so heavily and sweet-perfumed.

I can feel the smell even on my cheeks for some time. When the blush lies somewhere near me, I can smell it too.

It’s kind of a peculiarity of the Physicians Formula Butter range, so you can either accept it or not.

Well, enough with the properties. Let’s talk about the colors:

Plum Rose

Here, you can see one coat and a few coats applied:

It’s a very beautiful pink-beige shade. I was worried that it would look too orange-y on me, but I was wrong. The color looks surprisingly gorgeous. I think that the shade has a neutral undertone, so it can be suitable for any skin type. However, it may look a little bit out of place against cold skin tones.

It makes my skin look more alive, but I think it would look hardly noticeable against tanned skin, so this shade is best suitable for fair and medium skin types.

I can’t say that this color is perfect for young girls. I think it’s more suitable for grown-up women. It wears all day on my face.

Rosy Pink

One coat and a few coats applied:

It’s a fresh, bright cold-pink that looks amazing on pale skin. It refreshes my skin type and my makeup looks so gentle when I have it on.

I doubt that this shade will suit girls with a warm undertone, because the color is actually cold. I think Vintage Rouge would look better on them.

I’ve compared this blush with other blushes I have, which are all either cold or neutral pink and Rosy Pink has an obvious hint of blue, which makes this product unique in my collection.

1 - Maybelline, 2 - ColourPop, 3 - Physicians Formula, 4 - A'PIEU, 5 - Catrice
1 - Maybelline, 2 - ColourPop, 3 - Physicians Formula, 4 - A'PIEU, 5 - Catrice

The staying power is great. It wears all day on me and doesn’t fade.

Outcome:

+ nice texture

+ applies and blends out easily

+ beautiful shades

+ cute design

+ great staying power

- the smell is too potent

- hefty package

- useless applicator

I’m really pleased with these blushes, especially after buying them at a bargain price. The product has a silky smooth texture that is easy to blend out. Everything is perfect about it.

I recommend you try the Butter Blush!
