Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer - review

I bought this kit of deluxe samples because I was interested mainly in 2 products from it - this primer and mascara.

Size - 11g

Price for the full size - $22

My deluxe sample offers 5g of the product which is almost half of the full size.

Outer appearance

The tube is small with a screw-on cap.

The mini also provides us with the list of ingredients and its shelf life which is 18 months.

Dispensing

The nozzle is tiny for tiny amounts of the formula.

Texture:

The primer is creamy-silky to the touch and beige in color. However, it doesn’t cover up my skin and turns transparent on my eyes.

It’s very easy to apply like any other primer because it feels gliding over my eyelids. It sets pretty quickly and turns matte.

The finish is matte.

Performance

1. The primer helps my eyeshadows stay on better. It nicely mattifies oily lids and the products stay put the entire day.

It increases the wear time of my eyeshadows, so if you have a problem with creasing of your eyeshadow or fading the color, this babe is an option.For me, such primers are must-haves because any eyeshadow will crease on me within an hour if I don’t primer them.

The product ensures more than 12-hour staying power and eliminates creasing.

2. It also boosts color payoff.

You know, the shimmering shades from the Viseart Petit Pro 1 palette aren’t the best quality-wise. And the Too faced Shadow Insurance primer makes them apply with a thick layer from the first stroke.

The matte shades also apply better on top of it.

The primer helps to open up the colors of the products so beautifully.

If you’re looking for a primer that will make your eyeshadows burst with colors, this Shadow Insurance is the best.

3. The blending of matte shades goes smoother with it.

My brush with a matte eyeshadow on it feels so gliding on my skin thanks to the matte finish of the formula. You know that some matte shades can be assholes when it comes to blending but here the primer eases the process.

My makeup looks so harmonious in the end. That’s because of the smooth blending of the shades and the primer.

I’ll compare it with The Balm Put A Lid On It primer.

The Balm primer feels more silicone-based and it’s like easier to apply on my eyelids. But the difference is minimal.

Both primers offer a matte finish and they increase the wear time of the eyeshadows. It’s noteworthy the Too Faced primer seems to be more matte in finish.

Also, I’ve noticed a slight difference in color payoff. I think the colors seem more pigmented over the Too Faced product.

Spending

A match head amount is enough for both of my eyes so I conclude the product will go a very long way. Even the deluxe sample will go further than 6 months of daily use.

Overall thoughts- This is an excellent eyeshadow primer. For me, the most important thing about it is the wear time. I want to lock my eye makeup for the entire day. Also, it really performs well and eases the blending process. I keep on using it with pleasure and I’m going to buy the full size once I use this one up.
