As far as I’m concerned, this facial moisturizer is a bestseller.
After having tried out countless samples which impressed me, I bought a full-size version without hesitations.

With continuous moisture replenishment throughout the day, the luxurious formula leaves skin smooth, soft, and healthy-lookingWhat else you need to know:Through Ultra Facial Cream, Kiehl’s was honored to lend support and protection from the elements to the heroic team of the “Greenland First Ascent” expedition. The six explorers completed the first-ever ascent of Greenland’s ice covered peaks on May 30th, 2005.
The cream comes housed in a jar which is a disadvantage, in my opinion. They could have placed it in glass for the price.
The packaging is lightweight and simple. It came without outer packaging.
Like many other Kiehl’s products, it’s fragrance-free.
The formula is lightweight and pretty silicone-y. As for me, I’d better place it in a hermetically sealed bottle with a pump and I don’t see why they choose the jar.
It’s easy to spread and economical in use. The cream applies in a thin layer. I can totally feel those silicones on my face!
RESULT
Combination skin, 30 years old. My T-Zone is oily, but the skin on my cheeks is sometimes dehydrated and requires toning.
First of all I’ll say: I was totally fascinated by the results the free samples gave me. I used them in winter, and they provided my skin with moisture and kept it moisturized for a long time. The cream that came in the free samples gave a lifting effect in the nasolabial area, making my skin appear smoother without provoking skin oil excess. It was a great makeup primer and foundations never wore off when applied over it.
But when I started using the full size bottle, I became upset immediately. The cream soaks in much worse and my foundations don’t last on it! And no more lifting effect!
I have to note that I used the same face wash and face lotion as before.
I went on using this cream in summer and it turned out to be a complete disaster for my combination skin!
The full size version is less moisturizing than samples. I don’t know what’s wrong with them, I’ve used up many samples and they were great, but the full size jar never gave the same effect.
When I was halfway through the jar I started feeling this constant annoying film on my face, which made me want to wash it off immediately.
The T-zone was oily like never before! Even my dry cheeks shone! With a foundation, it was even more horrible.
Foundations come off quickly when I use this as a primer. The situation was better with face powders, but also far from perfect.
There were many new comedones on my cheekbones and chin, thanks to the constant oiliness! I had to use acid containing facial treatments to fight them. But anyway, when I started using this cream, everything went back to horrible.
I had that constant feeling of the oily film!
I had no choice but to set it aside for summer. I went on using this cream in fall and winter. As a makeup primer, it failed. Unlike free samples, the cream doesn’t give enough moisture and doesn’t prolong the lasting power of foundations.
Now I use the rest of the jar as a night cream and wake up with an oily nose. But when used overnight, the cream isn’t comedogenic, maybe because there is no heat and makeup.
Whether the cream is worth a try is a moot point. Free samples were great, unlike the full-size product that soaked in longer and didn’t provide the same effect. I wonder if they make the samples more effective intentionally.
No more than 3 stars. Isn’t worth the price.
