Welcome to my review!
I have a weakness for moisturizing and nourishing masks. I love the process of application and the feeling when I wear them.
I use facial masks frequently and own a plenty of them. By saying frequently I mean 2-3 times per week. I don't think my skin needs more.
Today, the item I'm reviewing is the Kiko Milano Hydra Pro Mask:
About my skin:
It’s combination, with dry spots on the nose, especially in winter. I’ve been caring about my skin for 4 years now, inspired by Korean beauties.
About the brand:
Most of my products from Kiko are makeup (eyeshadows, eyeliners, concealers, lip glosses etc.) In general, I’m happy with their quality, even though I find them a bit overpriced.
This is my first skin care product by the brand.
Description:
Moisturizing intensive mask. An intensive moisturizer that leaves the skin soft, highly luminous and refreshed for a flawless complexion.
The formula contains hyaluronic acid, prickly pear extract and shea butter for softer, smoother skin.
The product has a silky texture and a delicate musk and rose scent.
Ideal for all skin types.
The product claims to be suitable for any skin type.
In the photo below, you can see that the tube is half-transparent against the light which allows you to check how much is actually left..
Price: $12
Housing:
The mask comes in a little pink tube.
Traditionally, you can find all the necessary info on it.
Here are the directions:
Apply to clean, dry skin, leave on for 10-15 minutes, then carefully remove. Use once or twice a week.
For the best results, remove the mask with a KIKO Cleansing Sponge made of natural fibers. Then proceed with your usual skin treatment.
Sunburn Alert: This product contains alpha hydroxy
acids that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit
sun exposure while using this product and for a week
Well, nothing new for me. I leave my masks on for 15-20 minutes.
There is a regular screw cap that looks great - it’s golden and mirrored.
I was disappointed with the absence of the protective foil under it. You can’t know if someone used it before you.
Plus, the nozzle is a bit too big so one has to be careful squeezing the mask out.
Ingredients:
AQUA (WATER/EAU), GLYCERIN, GLYCERYL STEARATE, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII BUTTER (BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER), CETEARYL ALCOHOL, PEG-100 STEARATE, ALUMINUM STARCH OCTENYLSUCCINATE, TREHALOSE, PRUNUS ARMENIACA KERNEL OIL (PRUNUS ARMENIACA (APRICOT) KERNEL OIL), PHENOXYETHANOL, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, POTASSIUM PCA, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, PVP, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, RETINYL PALMITATE, SODIUM HYALURONATE, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE), OPUNTIA FICUS-INDICA STEM EXTRACT, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, LACTIC ACID, LIMONENE, TOCOPHEROL, POTASSIUM SORBATE, CITRONELLOL, AMMONIUM C6-16 PERFLUOROALKYLETHYL PHOSPHATE, CI 77491 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE)
Formula:
The mask has a medium consistency, more runny than I expected. It resembles rather a moisturizer than a facial mask.
Fragrance:
I found it a bit strange. It’s like a mix of a regular cosmetic smell and something flowery. I can’t call it pleasant, but luckily I don’t smell it on my face.
In use:
1) Usually I use this in the morning, so the first and most important step in my skincare routine is to remove skin fat with a quality face wash.
2) Then I apply the mask and spread it all over my skin.
3) I leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Within this time period, my skin feels okay, but later I start to experience an unpleasant tightening and want to wash it off asap. That’s why I don’t leave this mask on for more than 15 minutes.
4)
I wash it off with a wet sponge. The mask comes off easily.
On my hand:
1) Application
2) Spreading
3) Soaking in
4) Removing
Effect:
The mask does moisturize my skin, immediately and visibly.
My skin stays moisturized for a half an hour, and then the effect drops by 70%
I haven’t noticed any improvement in my skin tone.
The bottom line: I can’t say this won me over. It’s not bad, but not so good either. This facial mask gives a mediocre effect, and I won’t buy it again, definitely.
Let it be 4 stars out of 5.
