Paula Begoun is famous for her beautypedia and her attitude towards formulating skin products.
The products of the brand she founded do not contain any essential oils, because they can irritate your skin. Moreover, there are no products in pots, as she believes all the wholesome ingredients disappear over time in there. It’s just a part of her philosophy.
Now about the Paula's Choice RESIST Anti-Aging Daily Smoothing Treatment with 5% AHA Glycolic Acid Exfoliant. Also, it has peptides, ceramides and antioxidants.
This product is meant for dry to normal skin.
Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Glycolic Acid (alpha hydroxy acid/exfoliant), Cetyl Alcohol (texture-enhancing), Butylene Glycol (hydration), Dimethicone (hydrations/texture enhancer), Polyacrylamide (texture-enhancing), PPG-14 Butyl Ether (texture-enhancing), Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12 (skin-restoring ingredient), Ceramide NG (skin replenishing), Tetrahydrodiferuloylmethane, Tetrahydrodemethoxydiferuloylmethane, Tetrahydrobisdemethoxydiferuloylmethane (skin-soothing/antioxidants derived from curcumin), Epigallocatechin Gallate (antioxidant), Salicylic Acid (BHA exfoliant/skin-soothing), Disodium Lauriminodipropionate Tocopheryl Phosphates (vitamin e based antioxidant), PEG-10 Phytosterol, Cucumis Melo (Melon Fruit Extract (antioxidant), Bisabolol (skin-soothing), Allantoin (skin-soothing), Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Dimethiconol (hydrations/texture enhancers), Tribehenin (texture enhancer), Polysorbate 20 (texture-enhancing), C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, PEG-40 Stearate, Sorbitan Stearate (texture-enhancings), PVM/MA Decadiene Crosspolymer, Disodium EDTA (stabilizer), C13-14 Isoparaffin (solvent), Laureth-7 (texture-enhancing), Sodium Hydroxide (pH adjuster), Caprylyl Glycol (preservative), Ethylhexylglycerin (skin conditioning agent), Hexylene Glycol (solvent), Phenoxyethanol (preservative).
The plastic packaging is very convenient to use. It has a pump dispenser and a cap, which broke in a month for some odd reason.
The smell is quite nice especially for an acid. It has a light fruity smell that reminds me of a watermelon.
It doesn’t linger long but dissipates quite quickly even if you don’t use a cream after that.
In terms of the color, it’s dark beige and almost brown. The texture reminds me of a lightweight creamy lotion.
It spreads out without fuss and soaks in quickly without leaving any greasy film.
The product didn’t ever cause any irritation on me, but it ensures some pleasant tingling sensation.
I use this treatment in the morning after a serum or a cream. As a rule it doesn’t crease. It creases only with one product, which I believe is to blame for that. It goes quite a long way and I think it will suffice for a year or so.
I haven’t noticed any significant results due to a low extent of acid probably. Nevertheless, it’s OK for a slight daily exfoliation.
It helps get rid of breakouts that are only beginning to appear. You can eliminate them in a day. This product didn’t help me against blackheads, but it improved my skin a little bit. It didn’t do anything about my skin tone and spots, although it was promised.
As for the cons, it dries out my skin. Many acids dry out skin, but this product promised to exfoliate and moisturize my skin. Moreover, it’s meant for dry to normal skin type.
I have dry skin and it caused slight peeling on me.
Also, it makes my skin more sensitive to sun rays, so make sure to apply an SPF cream after that.
More than that, I haven’t noticed any anti-aging properties as promised, although I’ve been using this exfoliant for quite some time already. I find this product overpriced, because it doesn’t perform well. I’m not going to repurchase it, because some other affordable acid toners do a better job.
Period of use: about a year
