Today I’ll be talking about one of my favorite cosmetic ingredients, namely vitamin C.Ultra-Potency Vitamin C + Antioxidant SerumIt has a noteworthy appearance, because the packaging is its main and only flaw. Many face care products from this brand come housed in cheap bottles and therefore look pitiful in the end, with cracked caps and faded stickers. The same happened with this serum.
Let’s take a closer look at the bottle.
1. Made of light cheap plastic. The cracked cap you can see in the photo.
2. Simple design, with oranges which are supposed to remind us of Vitamin C.3. The serum comes in an airless pump, which is great since vitamin C becomes unstable when in contact with the air, but the pump itself doesn’t go smoothly, it spits the product out and fails.
On the bottom of the bottle you can find a sticker with the expiration date.
5. The serum comes in a standard 1 oz. bottle.
6. The list of ingredients can be found on the backside of the bottle.
Now I’ll proceed to its skin care properties.
The serum has a lightweight yellow-beige formula, has no overwhelming fragrance.
It spreads really good, leaving my skin soft. Unlike many other serums which contain vitamin C, this one doesn’t dry my skin out.
It doesn’t mattify it either.
It leaves a sticky feeling, that’s why after application I waited about 10-15 minutes before applying foundation or powder.
Also, the serum provides a lifting effect, I had a feeling as though my skin became really tight.
I really liked the result, because the serum had no side effects like allergies, pimples or clogged pores. Plus I liked the result on my skin, which looked fresh and glowing.
But my delight didn’t last long. As I’ve already mentioned, the pump didn’t work properly even in the beginning. In a month, it stopped giving out the serum at all.
I was confused. Had I run out of the serum so soon? Usually, such serums last at least for three months.
So I decided to take the bottle apart, which was quite easy as it turned out. And there was a lot of serum left! So, the fault was in the broken dispenser.
For two days, I used a cotton swab to get the serum out, but in the end I gave up, because vitamin C oxidizes when the bottle is opened.
So, the content was great, but the cheap pump spoils all the fun. The serum has been re-launched in a new design, though, but I’d better wait for a discount.
