Blackheads may be bothersome. I always envied those with beautiful and smooth skin on the cheeks and nose. Honestly, I was a bit lazy and only dreamed about some miracle. I kept telling myself that my skin was too problematic and oily. I was surprised when I learned that girls with dry skin have similar problems.

Eventually, I realized that I had to put a lot of effort into getting rid of my skin problems.

Once, when I was surfing an online-store with Korean cosmetics, I came across this face mask.

I’m not a big fan of the Korean brand Skinfood, but I saw a review praising it, with before and after photos, and I was keen to include this into my skincare routine.

And for a reason.

They promise:

A powerful pore-cleansing hot steam pack containing albumin extract and Jeju volcanic ash to eliminate sebum and exfoliate skin.

The tube seemed huge in the photos, and turned out to be so little in real life.

I was upset when I received it, I thought it would last for 5 uses.

The tube came without any outer box, it was simply sealed with protective wrap.

Ingredients:

Glycerin, Kaolin, Sucrose, Peg-8, Volcanic Ash, Zinc Oxide, Polyglyceryl-10 Behenate/Eicosadioate, Water, Fragrance, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Polysorbate 80, Albumen Extract, Sodium Lactate, Glycolic Acid, Oleth-7, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Urea, Sodium Citrate, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Sulfur, Tartaric Acid, Malic Acid, Serenoa Serrulata Fruit Extract, Beta-Sitosterol, Tocopherol

The tube is equipped with a convenient nozzle.

It dispenses the product nicely, I do it the following way: first I squeeze it out onto my hand then I spread the face mask with my fingers or brush.

The smell is far from nice, but luckily, it isn’t overpowering. It’s like a mix of sulfur and burnt sugar. It lingers on my face while the mask is there and disappears completely once the mask is removed.

The formula is thick and oily, easy to spread and sits into the pores. It isn’t runny.

How to use: apply, let it sit, massage the mask into the skin - remove it thoroughly with warm water.

I wasn’t sure how long I should keep the mask on. The website where I bought it said it should be 15-20 mins. However, the official website of the brand suggested I wear the mask only about 3-5 minutes.

First time I kept it on for 20 minutes, and as a result, I got little whiteheads.

Here I am, with my oily skin and large easy-to-clog pores:

This mask is self-heating, through I don’t feel much warmth. The area under my nose tickles because of my breath, and feels really hot.

The exfoliating effect is achieved thanks to these sugar-like inclusions.

It easy to rinse off yet I have to use a lot of water since it makes my skin oily.

My results:

1. My skin is red.

2. The cleansing effect is pathetic. Deep blackheads remained as they were.

3. The pores were narrower, but the toner I applied right after this mask returned them to their previous condition.

4. No moisturizing effect.

5. There is an exfoliating effect, but it cannot compare with peeling gels. The skin feels soft to the touch.

6. It does remove skin fat, I agree with that. After the first use, I felt disappointed about it and put it aside for a few weeks. However, I returned to it and use this mask once a week or every other week as a heating mask before other treatments. My pores turned out to be too deep for it.

Verdict: I’m not going to buy the Egg White Pore Hot Steam Pack again, that’s why I give it only three stars. But still, I can recommend it for those who don’t have any blackheads or whose pores aren’t that deep.
