I’ve known this perfume for a really long time. I bought it for the first time in 2013 and used it for 4 years.
I don’t have a full-size bottle anymore but recently I was lucky to get a lot of samples.
Well I decided to write this review and tell you why the first bottle lasted for so long.
A bit about the bottle:
It’s a classy glass bottle without any glitters or anything.
Looking at the bottle you know right away that its content isn’t oversweet or boring. It’s feminine, for women of all ages.
Notes:
- Top Notes
- Orange,
- Bergamot,
- Grapefruit
- Heart Notes
- Lychee,
- Rose,
- Italian Jasmine
- Base notes
- Indonesian Patchouli,
- Haitian Vetiver,
- Bourbon Vanilla,
- White Musk
The notes are rich and without trying the perfume out you can’t really know what it smells like.
For what season?
Personally, I prefer to wear this perfume in spring and cool summer (even though I bought it in winter). Winter doesn’t let this perfume open up fully, while in the spring or summer it smells fresh and versatile.
Actually, all Chanel scents are rather mature and rich and it’s hard to find something sweet and flowery for teenage girls among them.
Lasting power and sillage
You can’t pump once and enjoy the fragrance for a week. On my skin, this fragrance lasts only about 3 hours. There is no sillage either - this is not the kind of smell that lingers in the room after you’ve gone. Believe me, I have other fragrances to compare.
But don’t apply too much. The fragrance is strong and heavy, and it can scare off those around you as well as make you sick. It’s not a flying unicorn running through the pink clouds. It’s a big and muscular mustang that sweeps everything out of his path. The less the better.
What does Chanel Coco Mademoiselle smell like?
Honestly, I don’t know. I cannot sense separate notes and say for sure: this is bergamot, this is vanilla. I don’t really smell vanilla, by the way.Right after application the fragrance is pretty strong and nose-tingling and this may scare off, but give it some time.
There is nothing gentle about it, as well as about any perfume by Chanel.
Do men like this fragrance?
Do you want to hear that Chanel Coco Mademoiselle drives men crazy? Nope. Some of them love it, some of them are sick of it. We are all different, and nothing can suit anyone.
In our local stores, I witnessed a few remarkable scenes. For example, once I saw a young mom giving her son a blotter strip with Coco Mademoiselle, and the little guy was like: “eww...disgusting”.
I, too, couldn’t use this perfume constantly. It’s way too strong for me, and I wore it only when I was in the mood.
Some girls don’t buy it only because it’s too common nowadays. Personally I never smelled it on other people.
A 1,7 oz bottle costs $100, which is too pricey, in my opinion.
First of all, it’s just high-end, not some niche perfume.
Second of all, the lasting power is far from phenomenal for the price.
Anyway, try this out before buying, because nobody knows how it would settle on your skin. Maybe you’ll love it, maybe not, and the bottle will be condemned to stay untouched on your dressing table forever.
