Pros: effective, my hair got better
Cons: a little doesn't go a long way

The Olaplex system is quite popular in hair salons, where it is used while dying hair, especially when you have to make it lighter or go other shades many times. It is used to decrease the harmful impact on your hair or to eliminate the consequences after dyeing.

As far as I know there are 3 products in a system and the first two are available only for professionals and the product number 3 sells easily for use at home.

I purchased it.

The claims:

No.3 Hair Perfector is not a conditioner. No.3 is our at home bond builder that contains the same active ingredient found in all professional Olaplex products. Our patented technology relinks the broken disulfide bonds in every type of hair providing real, structural repair that works from within. For best results, please follow our instructions.

So, it promises to rebuild and protect my hair from the chemical impact of a hair dye. I purchased it because of the latter promise. I didn’t even have any high hopes for rebuilding my hair, I just didn’t believe it. I was planning to dye my hair every month or two or often, so I decided to try something protective. When I saw this product in hair salons, I was quite happy.

Ingredients:

Ingredients

Water, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate, Propylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Phytantriol, Panthenol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Hydroxyethyl Ethylcellulose, Quaternium-91, Cetrimonium Methosulfate, Cetrimonium Chloride, Fragrance, Polyquaternium-37, Tetrasodium EDTA, Magnesium Nitrate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Magnesium Chloride, Etidronic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Benzoate.

The good thing about the ingredients is that this product doesn’t contain any silicones, which is usually the case with other reconstructing hair products. They make your hair visually smooth, but the effect disappears right after washing.

Suggested use:

Step 1: Apply a generous amount to towel-dried hair and comb through.

Step 2: Leave on for a minimum of 10 minutes. Keep in mind, the longer it’s on, the more effective it is, especially for hair that is compromised. We’ve seen great results from people who leave it on 30 to 90 minutes!

Step 3: Rinse, shampoo and condition. Remember, this is NOT a conditioning treatment OR a leave-in treatment. It is meant to be shampooed out of the hair and followed up with your regular shampoo/condition regimen.

Step 4: Voila! Style as you normally would.

I haven’t tried the No.1 and 2 treatments, so I’m going to talk about No.3 for use at home only.

The product comes in a small plastic bottle with 100 ml. It retails without a package but with a protective film under the cap. The material is white and transparent plastic, so you can control the amount left. The dispenser is quite convenient to use.

The texture reminds me of a liquid hair conditioner. It smells nice as a leave-in product some hairdressers apply after a treatment. So the smell is nice and salon-like.

The manufacturer recommends applying the product to clean and damp hair and after that using a shampoo. I don’t usually want to damage my scalp and hair with cleaning it twice, so I apply this treatment to my slightly damp hair.

Note! If I have any styling product or anything I applied after washing my hair for the last time, I rinse it with a shampoo. If my hair is clean, I dampen it with water only.

I applied it for 10 minutes as recommended only once. Then I decided to leave it on overnight, as the product was more effective then and I used the same amount of the product. After applying it to damp hair I let it dry a little bit and then make pigtails before going to sleep. I rinse my hair with a shampoo only in the morning.

When I don’t have to go out, I use it in the daytime and leave it on till the next morning and rinse it only then, so I can leave it on 20-24 hours.

100 ml suffices for 5-7 applications with my medium-length hair. I use it only in the case when I’m going to have my hair dye the next day.

In fact I have naturally normal hair and if it was incredibly damaged, I would’ve been using it more frequently.

Usually I had dry, dull and wick hair after every hair dye, but after using this treatment overnight my hair looked as if it wasn’t dyed every time after a salon.

I color my hair in dark-brown tones without any bleaching. My hair is glowing, healthy-looking and not split. However, it stopped getting split even before this treatment.

My hair looks as if I’ve never used any chemical hair dyes with ammonia at all. You can take it from me.

Moreover, I’d like to note another positive effect after use. After constant dyeing and even bleaching at home, my tips became really dry and this treatment revived them and now they look as if I’ve never bleached or dyed my hair in my life.

Although I love this product, I don’t think that this or any other product could ever rebuild your split tips for good. I believe that scissors can only save the situation. Lucky me, I don’t have any split ends for a few years already.

The effect is accumulative, so if you don’t use it a few times, nothing wrong will happen.

So, this hair treatment works really well for me and lets me dye my hair without any awful consequences. Plus, it rebuilds my hair after the previous hair dyeing.

I dye my hair more often at the moment but my hair gets only better.

Period of use: more than a year
