Hey! Smile

Today I’d like to tell you about the Smooth Sulfate-free shampoo by Sexy Hair. It’s been a long time since I pampered my hair and used professional products, so I just decided to buy something professional once again for it. I want my hair to look smooth and disciplined, so I opted for the “Smooth” line by Sexy Hair. And I was so happy when I saw that it works wonderfully on my thin hair. As I presume that there’s no point buying and using only one product in the line, I also bought these:

1. SexyHair Sulfate-Free Smoothing Shampoo

2. SexyHair Sulfate-Free Smoothing Conditioner

3. SexyHair Sulfate-Free Hair Spray

But today I’ll speak only about the shampoo:

SexyHair Sulfate-Free Smoothing Shampoo

A few words about my hair:

It’s rather long and greasy at the roots while the ends tend to be dry. I’m trying to grow my natural hair color after failed experiments with hair highlighting. I try my best to make it look better, as well as shiny and smooth. I think I’m doing it well but still I know that it can look even better.

My hair is thin but at the same time voluminous. And I have to admit that I’d like it to be even more voluminous. My hair is porous, that’s the reason why it becomes very frizzy and ugly when I choose the wrong hair care products. I always want my hair to look good, smooth, soft and a tad weighted down. I know that’s it’s difficult to find well-suitable products, but I’m not desperate and continue my search.

Details:

Sulfate, gluten, paraben and salt free Smoothing Shampoo advanced formula is infused with coconut oil that helps fight frizz for smooth results that last. By preventing cuticle lift, friction and humidity attacking the hair this shampoo transforms frizzy, wavy and curly textures into sleek shiny hair for extended periods of time. Gently cleanses hair while adding moisture by penetrating the hair shaft. Safe to use on chemically straightened hair or extensions.

Some general information:

  • Price: $17

  • Size: 300 ml

  • Brand: Sexy Hair;

  • Target: Anti Frizz Shampoo

Design:

The shampoo is packed in an elongated shaped plastic tube of a bright purple color with a black cap. I like this bright design a lot. It’s so eye-catching that it’s impossible to pass by.

I found the disc top cap very convenient while use. Even when my hands are wet I can easily open and close it. It’s also very convenient to get the right amount of the product out.

Texture:

The Texture is cream-like, of white color with a tad of pearl casting. It doesn’t lather well on the first wash, but on the second I get a rich foam. I feel comfortable using this product.

Smell:

The smell is light and floral. If you prefer neutral and unobtrusive scents, then you won’t like this shampoo, as well as the whole line in general.

Ingredients:

The product is sulfate-free. I usually wash my hair with shampoos that have SLS in the ingredients but I like trying out naturally packed shampoos, as they provide more gentle cleansing of my scalp.

Water, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Amodimethicone, Bis-Cetearyl Amodimethicone, Cetrimonium Chloride, Citric Acid, Cocamide MIPA, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Dimethicone, Disodium EDTA, Glycine Soja Oil, Glycol Distearate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol, Laureth-4, Laureth-23, Panthenol, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Phospholipids, Polyquaternium-11, Polysorbate 20, Propanediol, Quaternium-95, Trideceth-12, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance/Parfum, Linalool, Limonene, Hexyl Cinnamal.

Use:

I wash my hair two times. I noticed that my hair was very much tangled and difficult to comb after using this shampoo.

Lather, rinse and repeat if necessary. For enhanced results, follow by using the Smoothing Conditioner or Smooth Extender Masque.

This is how my hair looks like after I washed it with this product. I hate the result and I was almost ready to say bad things and swear about the line when a conditioner saved the situation. Alas, I don’t know if any other conditioner or masque by different brand can do the same. I also noticed that even though my hair was tangled it still was very soft to the touch. What a strange mixture! It’s just a miracle. I presume that my hair became tangled only in the places where I had hair highlighting, while natural hair took this shampoo well and looked good. So I conclude that this line will suit non-dyed hair most of all.

My results:

💗 Cleansing - this shampoo is very delicate when it comes to cleansing. My hair doesn’t feel squeaky after use and I also like the fact that it isn’t dried out. Yes, the product tangles my hair, but conditioner quickly neutralizes the problem. I wouldn't recommend using this shampoo solo.

💗 Comfort while use - I liked the packaging and the cap of the product. I like using it, even though it lathers well only while second washing. And let’s not forget about the smell: for me it sounds pleasant - light and floral.

💗 Shine and gloss - I’ve always liked shampoos that make my hair soft, shiny and glossy, like of babies’ hair. And I actually received it. I think that’s because of the coconut oil in the ingredients. From time to time I do a coconut oil masque on my hair and my hair is very thankful for that, that’s why this line suits me well, I guess.

Smooth - my hair is extremely smooth. Look at the photo below. I tried to show you the maximum of the effect. My hair is silky to the touch. Of course the effect was gained thanks to the conditioner partly, but I never apply the conditioner on my roots, so you can assess the result looking only on the roots area.

💗 Spending. This shampoo is very economical. But if you’re going to use it together with the conditioner, count that you’ll need two bottles of conditioner on one bottle of shampoo.

💗 Frizziness - I like the fact that my hair doesn’t stick out to the different directions or look frizzy. It’s disciplined and smooth.

Pros:

🔺 doesn’t dry out my hair

🔺 coconut oil

🔺 economical

🔺 pleasant to use

🔺 makes my hair smooth

🔺 makes my hair soft and shiny

🔺 proper but delicate cleansing

🔺 anti frizz effect

Cons:

Maybe that’s subjective, but still on my hair I noticed the following:

🔸 this shampoo tangles my hair

🔸 it’s better to use together with a conditioner by the same brand and line.

Sexy Hair Smooth Sulfate-Free Shampoo works well on my hair but only alongside with conditioner. Only if they are used together I can see that desired smooth and shine effect. My thin hair likes this professional care products!
