Hey my dear readers!
Girls are always picky when it comes to hair. When our hair is straight, we want it curly, when it’s curly and frizzy we want it straight. That is the reason I have 3 different devices for my hair: hair dryer, straightener and a curling iron. Today I’d like to tell you something about Remington S5500.
The straightener comes in a paper packaging, but I threw it away after the first use, unfortunately.
There is also a great felt bag for the curling iron.
It’s great for 2 reasons: It protects my tool and has a specific Velcro strip on the back of the bag to store the cord.
The straightener itself looks the following way:
It also has a nice design with a matte body which is pleasant to the touch. The body is embossed with a glossy Remington name.
The appliance has a small plug with a 1.8m cord.
Moreover, it has a swiveling cord, which is very convenient.
3 buttons at the body are: temperature settings (+ and -) and the on/off button.
What I particularly like is that you can fix the device. In the photo below the plates are locked and fixed.
When they are unlocked, you can use it safely.
The floating plates are ceramic.
The screen displays the heat level and I think it makes the work much easier. The temperature varies from 150 to 230 C.
The tool heats up quickly within 15 secs and flickers in the process.
When the temperature is set, the screen is blue.
The straightener turns off automatically in 60 mins.
Well, enough with specifications. Let’s talk about my experience with the styling tool.
I have quite thick hair, which I’m trying to let grow and be back to my natural color. I haven’t dyed it for a year now. My hair is naturally curly, but I straighten it with a hair dryer or this tool every time after the hair wash.
Usually I straighten my hair at 180-190 C. If you set a higher degree, you may burn it.
The appliance performs well enough, but not in the first go, so that I have to straighten every strand two or three times to get a proper effect. The straightener leaves no creases by the way.
When in action, the body heats up a little and starts to pull out my hair sometimes.
The after shot with a flash:
Without flash:
I don’t curl my hair with this device, as I have Bosch curling iron for that purpose.

Price point on Amazon.com: ca. $ 20
I think that Remington S5500 is a decent styling tool.
