Warning! My review contains some unpleasant photos. If you’re not ready to see them, you’d better close my review.

Right here I want to say that all those skin troubles are not because of my unhealthy diet or bad skin care. I don’t eat fast food at all, different unhealthy snacks aren’t my cup of tea. I avoid heavy and junk food like crisps, chips, etc. I’m lacto-vegetarian (sometimes I can also eat some fish). Every day I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. I also treat my skin well and cleanse it properly. My skin troubles are exceptionally due to a hormonal disorder.

Let’s pass over to the review of the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask.

I bought it because one of the beauty bloggers, who I trust and respect, recommended it.

1. Name: Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask

2. Price: $29.99

3. Made in the USA

4. Place of purchase: Amazon.com

5. Device: the mask arrived packed in a cardboard box, which was also wrapped with plastic. The device was safely placed into a transparent plastic stand. By the way, the product arrived safe and sound.

The device is actually a white mask with featured glasses of yellow color. The temple tips are rather difficult to put down, so I keep them like this.

The inside of the mask has a lot of small lights in it, which are a feature of the device. There are 6 of them for the forehead area and 15 for the chin.

There’s also an activator placed on the right side of the mask, which is also a controller for the amount of the sessions left. The activator is replaceable.

I bought the refill at once, which also offers 30 sessions. But currently, I really doubt that I’ll ever use it just because I don’t see any point in that.

Within the 10-minute session, the number changes on the activator:

It works exactly for 10 minutes. The device is noiseless and it doesn’t bring any discomforting feelings. It neither warms my skin nor cools it down. The temple tips sit tightly, so I can even use the mask when I’m standing.

The lights are very bright and they really blind me.

The very first time when I was using it, I was too curious to see what’s happening inside the mask and I opened my eyes, which caused me some pain in my left eye some time later. By the end of the course, I could already feel free to open my eyes because I was already used to that light.

The lights have different colors - some of them are blue, while others are red. From afar, it looks like they’re purple.

6. How it works: the lamps of different colors have different actions. The blue light fights gems, while the red light helps our skin to be restored and collagen-full.

It does sound catchy, especially if your skin is acne-prone and you’re desperate.

I understand that different lights may affect our skin but here, I can’t see any significant result.

7. My results: As recommended, I used this mask every day with a 10-minute session.

The mask fits tightly and never brings any discomforting feeling.

I turn it on and lay comfortably on the sofa.

The lights turn off themselves, once the session is over.

Before the mask session, I cleanse my skin yet not tone it or moisturize it. It’s advised to do that after the light session.

My skin looks absolutely normal when I take it off. I haven’t noticed any changes in my skin condition after the whole 30-day course. Every day I used to look thoroughly at my skin, looking for changes. But it usually was like this: one pimple was drier while there appeared three new ones. And sometimes it could even be like this - there was a zit, which was moving 2 inches here and there unless I used 30% glycolic acid against it. I just couldn’t watch it anymore.

After 10 sessions I just stopped taking pictures of my skin. There was no result and I kept on using this mask just because I wanted to finish the course.

During the first days of treatment, my skin had about 3 zits on my chin, which were because of PMS and rather normal for me.

8 and 11 of January:

Within a week it was better but there were a lot of acne scars.

I was freaking out because before that I had had a course of peeling which made my skin perfect. While here, I was covered with pimples again, worse than it used to be.

17 of January:

22 of January I was covered with new inflammation and my skin looked terrible. In the middle of the course:

23 of January. 15 sessions of the acne mask:

My chin was covered with acne scars. And there were a lot of zits too. I had to fight them using glycolic acid and Effaclar Duo cream.

I had already had about 20 sessions when I was prescribed with an antibiotic, which really helped me get my skin to the better side. I also stopped taking spirulina and my zits started to vanish.

I know that my antibiotic treatment helped a lot but my question is - why the hell didn’t the blue light of the mask do anything?

BUT! I rejected supplements and took up antibiotics only after 20 sessions. Before that, there was much more acne on my skin.

You can see that in the photos.

25 of January. I decided to do a 30% glycolic peeling, which was my mistake. I didn’t have anything like that before. My skin was horrible.

Here’s what I looked like on the 26th of January.

Two days after taking up antibiotics, my skin revived.

4 of February - no new acne inflammation but my chin is still covered with acne scars:

The last day of the session - my skin looks better, comparing with what it used to be two weeks ago:

The blue light which fights gems didn’t do anything. There were new and new pimples every day.

The red light also didn’t do any better - my skin doesn’t look thicker or more resilient now.

The idea isn’t bad, I think but the realization is a fail.

I don’t know, maybe the lights aren’t so effective or maybe my skin is so bad that nothing can help it.

I haven’t noticed any pimple drying out or reducing (they were growing more and more).

I wasted my money. This light therapy acne mask is just viral junk!

On the internet, I found a lot of reviews and ads where they all say that this “Iron Mask” is the only solution for problematic skin. From my own experience, I can say that it’s bullshit and a waste of money.

It didn’t do anything about my skin, that’s why it’s worth 2 stars only. I bought this mask because I was desperate since I’ve already tried a huge pile of different products, which don’t seem to be helpful. Besides, it was recommended by a beauty blogger who I trust.

Stay beautiful and let your skin be healthy!
