I met The Balm cosmetics relatively recently. For a long time, I was looking at their cute packages until one day I have finally decided to try all of their products! At once I opted for two palettes: Girls’ Getaway Trio and In TheBalm Of Your Hand Greatest Hits Volume 2 Palette. The first is actually a set of blushes, while the second is a collection of the best-selling products from the brand.
I can describe the outer appearance of the packaging endlessly. It’s made of thick cardboard and it has a good mirror inside. The palette closes with magnets. I don’t know how safe it will be to carry the palette with me without the outer cover, after all the magnet can easily let the palette pop open, but I have to give the proper respect to the maker, because the palette is still really travel-friendly and the most important thing is to make sure to pick up a brush for application.
The palette offers three shades of blushes, though for me it seems that there’s still one bronzer among them. But first things first.
So, the first shade is Balm Springs. This one is really spring-like, gentle and powder-colored. It looks like blooming skin once there are first beams of the sun appearing, anticipating warmth and sunny days.
The peachy-pink shade will be absolutely flattering to all the skin tones and colors. It’ll definitely make everybody's complexion look refreshed and really cute.
The shade itself doesn’t seem to be packed with the pigment a lot and it’s an advantage indeed. It won’t be easy at all to stain your skin with it. However, it’s still possible to layer the product, since the formula is build-able and you’ll get more intense shades easy-breezy if needed.
The second shade is called the Palm Beach. It’s beige and pink at the same time. It looks more off white, lilac and even grayish over tanned skin. And it’ll look more natural over the fair skin, making it look a little bit flushed. The coverage is also build-able, however, here I have to say that the color isn’t pigmented enough, so you won’t ever get an intense shade with this product. At least over my skin it doesn’t want to appear bright.
The third shade is the Balm Desert. Some people take it as a blush, whilst I take it as a bronzer. Over my fair skin it looks too vibrant and red-toned as a blusher. But I like how nicely it looks if I use it as a bronzer. However, it still stands to mention the red undertone of the product, which is excellent for a bronzing powder and can be fatal for a blusher.

I want to compare the Balm Desert and Bahama Mama. In the photo, you can see how carroty the Bahama Mama shade is. And how red is the Balm Desert. All in all the shade will definitely depend on your skin tone. In general, I can recommend not to be afraid to experiment. For some people, this shade will be a perfect blush, which will look natural and harmonious on the skin, while others will find it as an excellent bronzer.

It’s only up to you to decide whether to buy this palette or not. I can’t say that it was a cheap investment, though I still don’t regret buying it. All the shades are easy to blend out, they don’t apply with patches and I can either create a natural-looking flush with them or apply them with a thicker layer for a more color payoff. For me, the last shade Balm Desert has truly become a hit since I love how beautifully it works as a bronzer.
