Pros: diminishes small skin blemishes, it applies with a seamless veil, it evens out my complexion, it stays on the entire day, mattifies
Cons: the puff is useless

Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre

Hello everybody!

It was several years ago when I tried this powder for the first time and became completely blown away. Every powder that I used after this one was too far away from the Chanel quality-wise.

Product says:

A loose powder that evens out and mattifies the skin without emphasizing lines. An ultra-fine, smoothed and evanescent texture. A transparent halo that prolongs makeup hold.

Result: a radiant and naturally even complexion all day long.

Adapted to all skin types.

About my skin: it’s problematic, enlarged pores, combo skin type.

I pair this powder with the Chanel PERFECTION LUMIÈRE foundation. And it’s an ideal combo for my skin.

Ingredients:

  • Light-reflecting and colour-correcting pigments for a luminous complexion and optical correction of imperfections.

  • Silica microbeads for a mattifying effect.

Price:

about $52

Size:

30 g (1 oz)

Color: 30-Naturel

Package:

It’s stylish, wearproof and damage-proof as well. Smile I accidentally dropped it on a stone floor several times and nothing bad has ever happened with it. Nothing creaks or anything about the package, unlike of the Givenchy Prisme Libre, which is so troublesome to close if the latch doesn’t get into the grooving of the compact…

Use:

In the morning I applied my makeup and in the evening I noted that it looked almost as though just applied, which was a tad strange for me, because I have combo skin type (even oily in some places). I’ve never had such results with any other cosmetic products before. I know it doesn’t sound convincing, but it’s true.

The powder is super lightweight and it even feels like it’s absolutely weightless. I almost don’t feel it present on my skin, at the same time it does its job perfectly well. I like the way it evens out my complexion and wipes away small blemishes. I hardly ever wear this powder without my foundation, but there were also some days when I used to wear it alone. This is why I can talk about its properties fully.

Application:

I didn’t like the manufacturer’s advice of application, as well as the puff included, that’s why I apply the powder with a brush. I’m more into brushes, you know.

Spending: it’s a huge advantage of the product. It goes a super long way. Yes, the jar is huge and it isn’t travel-friendly, because it won’t get into my purse, but there isn’t any need for me to carry the product with me. I have another Chanel LES BEIGES powder which is a good kinda “throw in a bag product” for me. It might be less effective than this loose powder, but it’s fine when I need a quick touch-up.

Results and impressions:

For me this POUDRE UNIVERSELLE LIBRE has become perfect and even several years later there still hasn't been any powder which might be better. My skin is so finicky that there still hasn’t been a powder to tame it before.
