Hi there! Smile

If you’ve ever watched YouTube or scrolled Instagram, I’m sure you know about the ColourPop brand. And I’m not an exception. So, during last Black Friday sales I decided to order this ColourPop highlighter for myself.

ColourPop is an American brand with a lot of offline shops as well as an official website. Free delivery worldwide for orders over $50.

I ordered this product a long time ago but I didn't want to write the review of it immediately as I wanted to try it out thoroughly.

The price of the product was $8.

The design is very cute and girlish (teenagers will rave about it).

There wasn’t any list of ingredients on or bar codes or any other information on the packaging.

On the container you can see a holographic caption with the brand’s name. Unfortunately it wiped off too quickly.

Size - 4.2g for a comparison - the Maybelline Color Tattoo jar has 4.5g (but Maybelline has a creamy texture while this product is dry)

As for the texture, it’s creamy-souffle (their eyeshadows have a more obvious souffle-like texture). The scent is there but difficult to make out only if you hold the product very close to your nose - it smells of rose water (something gentle and pleasant).

I opted for the Spoon shade. But honestly, it was difficult for me to choose a shade as all the highlighters in the line look almost the same once blended out… I wanted to get the color as close to my natural skin tone as possible with a dewy finish. (e.g. satin texture)

A light silver Champagne with multi-dimensional glitter, that is sure to get you forked

My fault is that I didn’t read the description carefully.

I advise you to apply this highlighter with your finger, as the brush almost doesn’t pick it up. And I’m really surprised with the fact that when I pick the product with my finger I can see it very well.

Looks beautiful, isn’t it? And now I translate it to my hand And here we can see an abundance of small glitter. In the shadow or dim light it isn’t very obvious but in the sun and lamp light it shines too much.

Here is the first swatch done with a brush and the second is done with a finger. I don’t know why but neither my phone nor my camera want to show you the true shine of the product as it is. In life the shimmer shines white, light green and pink colors.

And even though I don’t appreciate the presence of the shimmer to my highlighter, I still wore it a couple of times. The staying power was excellent till the evening. But as for the quality of the product if used as eyeshadows I have to say the following - I guess that my blinking made the shimmer fall off under my eyes. I think I needed to use a primer beforehand.

All in all I conclude:

  • I don’t want to apply the product with my finger;

  • I don’t appreciate the presence of shimmer parts to the product (why haven’t they mentioned that the product shines like a Christmas tree)

  • And also, no information on the packaging or on the jar: no expiration date, ingredients or bar code is also very doubting

I won’t recommend this highlighter in the Spoon shade, as it doesn’t look natural on the face (if only it’s possible to say “natural” about a highlighter). The texture is fine but the shimmer isn’t. If you want to try out this very texture, then maybe it’ll be better for you to try some other shades.
