Hello everyone!

I’m a fan of matte lips but the newest trend for metallic lips didn’t pass by me either. I have this ColourPop lippie in the shade 3-Way.

The official site has a price of $6 for an item.

Made in the USA

Size - 2.8g

Packaging - it’s regular and common for all lip glosses and liquid lipsticks. I can’t scald it or praise it. Just a good standard packaging. The lipstick is easy to pick up and apply.

Color- It’s something vinous and purple. The pearlescent casting is there with chunky and big glitter parts. It freaks me out most of all!

In the swatches, it appears more or less okay but later it turns into this after application and blending:

Those chunky glitter bits don’t rock my socks off. The formula is already shimmering, why the heck should it be filled with that mess? It cheapens the product and I end up sparkling like a Christmas tree. It may be okay for the red carpet walk or when you wear it in the evening and pair with an evening dress but never for everyday life.

Application and texture- Most of all, this lipstick reminds me of a liquid eyeshadow which is stickier. I have a similar shade of liquid eyeshadow from NYX so I guess I could get by without this lipstick. It applies well but still can be a little bit gooey.

The finish and wear are like of any matte lipstick. I want to say it right away - always wear it over a base! Otherwise, it has all the chances to look pathetic. I knew it when I was looking through the swatches and I was ready to face it. So, I use it on top of something and never alone. In the picture, the ColourPop product is applied over a vinous lipstick:

The staying power is great, especially when I wear it over a matte lipstick. It doesn’t fade away this way at all. But be ready to see the feathering glitter. Smile I don’t pack it and most frequently just pat it over my lipstick and blend out. When I wore it alone, it was too sticky, non-setting and terrible. So, don’t do it.

Pros:

  • comfortable

  • trendy Smile:)

Honestly, I tried to think of advantages but there aren’t many of them…

Cons:

  • GLITTER

  • it appears patchy without a base

  • cheap packaging, the lettering fades away

  • you’ll have to bother with the application

Overall- I don’t rave about it and the lipstick isn’t awful. It’s just this trend that doesn’t suit me.

All those pearlescent finishes and glitter look fabulous only if your face and lips are perfect. Otherwise, they may appear like my granny’s lipstick. So, I’m not against this product (except that chunky glitter), if you love it, go ahead. But don’t expect any super finish. I guess its dupes can be found in any beauty store and you won’t have to necessarily bother with ColourPop. I will wear it occasionally, just for a change.

I give it 3 stars, based on the number of cons. Honestly, I feel sorry I bought it. I could easily get by without it.
