Cover FX Shimmer Veil Eyeshadow - review

Today we’ll speak about an eyeshadow, a top coat and also a dope product from Cover FX Shimmer Veil.

I have to confess that this is actually the first eyeshadow of mine which isn’t dry texture-wise. Here I can see more color and I anticipate more difficult application. How will it go after all?

First of all the product is rather pricey. For a 4 ml tube, we have to shell out $28.00.

I received this product in a goody bag and guys, if I didn’t, I know that I would have never splurged on this, just because there aren’t so many occasions in my life when I can let myself shine bright like a diamond with this eyeshadow. And of course, my hooded eyes are too problematic to wear such textures.

But on the other hand, I’m sure that this 4ml of the product will last a lifetime. Maybe $28 for that isn’t pricey at all.

The packaging of the product is nothing to be picky about. This smooth and heavy tube is pleasant to hold in my hands. The lettering is of nice quality. By the way, the product came covered with a cardboard box, but I eventually threw it away. At that moment I didn’t even have a thought that one day I’d be inspired enough to write a review.

The sponge here is rather standard for such a product in my book. But it is still pretty soft and pleasant by touch. The stopper is okay. It feels like it works good but sometimes I still have to wipe the applicator over the rims to take off that undesired amount. This is probably due to that creamy and thick texture of the product.

I received one of the most flattering to everybody shades of the product in my goody bag. It’s called Soleil.

You can either apply this eyeshadow with the lightest veil or apply for a thick coverage. The whole job is done by the applicator and I have to say that it does it nicely, the only gripe is that you’ll have to let the coverage some time to dry out.

By the daytime lights (the upper shot) the shimmer is merely visible. But electric lights reveals all the gleam of the product. Yet still, it looks rather wearable in my book.

The product in action:

I’m rather ham-handed but YouTube tutorials and some practice let me do my makeup more or less bearably. So, I confirm that I managed to apply this eyeshadow more or less well. I applied it the following way:

1. I primed my eyelids, so as not to let all that beauty flow down even before I finish doing my makeup.

2. I applied the product to my mobile lids.

3. I blended it out with a fair shade.

4. I darkened the corners of my eyes.

5. MORE DARK SHADE! I was a little bit sad at that moment and also decided to apply the dark shade to the center of my lids.

6. I applied some mascara on my lashes.

 

When you apply this eyeshadow over your finished makeup, don’t forget to let it dry for some time. Otherwise, it’ll stain your upper lids.

And here’s my favorite part.

7. I opened my eyes and understood that all my efforts with this makeup were in vain since the product isn’t visible there at all.

Well, at least it was interesting to try. :)By the way, here’s a disadvantage - when I blend the product out, the shimmer falls out. Not so much though still visible. So, working with this product you’ll either have to use eye patches or use a fanning brush to wipe it off after doing your makeup.

Besides, let’s recollect the need to dry the product on the eyes and in the end you’ll get a beautiful but not the most trivial makeup look.

Lasting power- It totally depends on the eyeshadow primer you use. If the primer is good, the product will stay on till the evening even over oily lids. If I don’t wear any primer, this eyeshadow creases within an hour.

So, my makeup looks usual and not interesting when I go out but I know that I spend a lot of time and cosmetics to do it.

And then I became too creative… I knew that I had to use this product and found exactly how.

Actually, even this whim showed me that there’s a positive side about this product as well. I found out that it can be used as a topper over my lips. Moreover, it feels rather comfortable there. But only in case, I apply a little.

Or I can also find a use of it for some theme photoshoot. More gold! More gold!

And more colors. But of course these shots aren’t to show you the true color of the product, so I guess you’ll forgive me a little photoshop here.

What’s in the end?

I give it 3 stars and recommend it only for those who want to shine bright like a Christmas tree on the photoshoots. Or also maybe to those people who know how to apply this product and still want to use it as an accent on their eyes. But in all the cases you have to be aware that Cover FX Shimmer Veil is far from being perfect. As for me, I’m happy that I have this eyeshadow for practice and creativity.
