Hi there!
My today’s review is dedicated to my one of the most favorite cosmetic products: MAC Fix+
Pre-history
My skin is combination. My T-zone is oily, the rest is normal when it’s warm outside and dry in winter. I always fight with an oily shine in my T-zone, which is constantly there on my face, but mattifying powder and dry textured products help me to look more or less matte. I don’t use any cream products: bronzers, blush or highlighters, as they make my face look even more oily. As a result of using dry textures, my skin looks too cakey. My make-up looks its best after a couple of hours of wearing, when dry textures mix with foundation and my face looks less cakey. When I started to look for the product which could be able to deprive me from cakeyness the very moment I applied my make-up, I found the MAC Fix+.
This product is one of the most popular in the Prep + Prime line.
Product promises:
A lightweight mist of water packed with vitamins and minerals, infused with a blend of green tea, chamomile and cucumber to gently soothe and refresh the skin. Gives an instant boost of hydration while delivering a soft sheen to refresh and finish makeup.
Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract,Tocopheryl Acetate, Caffeine, Panthenol,Arginine, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil,PPG-26-Butheth-26, Fragrance (Parfum),Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol
The spray is packed in a transparent matte plastic bottle of 100 ml (there’s also a travel-sized version). The bottle has a black lid with a lock, which locks when you turn it to the left. They advise to hold the bottle 12 inches from your face and spray evenly. I can’t say that the spray-pump is good, as the drops seems to be quite big. This is the only disadvantage about this product, I think. So you should be very careful and use this spray before mascara, as twice I ended up with my mascara smudged. Two pumps are enough for my face, but that never stops me from spraying more! The scent is so pleasant, fresh and cosmetic (there are now some versions with different aromas).
Despite it is being called Fix+ this product can be used not only to fix your make-up, but also as a primer, or refreshing mist (in summer, for instance). It gets so pleasant to spray it over my face and feel refreshed. As for the primer properties, here the glycerine in the ingredients will play its role. It makes foundation glide over your face and soothes flaking. This product doesn’t create any oily film on your face and doesn’t leave any discomfort feelings after. It dries like a usual water and there are no tightening feelings.
The magic happens when I spray this product over my face after make-up application. Before the spray, I look good, but still there’s something lacking. My blush, highlighter, powder and bronzer look like separate products on my face. And here two sprays are enough to make the magic work. My face then looks less cakey, all the textures blend together and in general, my make-up looks like one and whole. In the photo below I was trying to show you this effect, but it seems that I failed.

As for adding longevity to my make-up, I’m not sure. Fix+ isn’t the product which will make your make-up glued to you for 24 hours. For that reason it’s better to use something like All Nighter by Urban Decay .
The bottom line. All in all, I’m delighted with this product, and will surely repurchase it again.
Price: $24 for 100ml bottle.
