I used to neglect the Marc Jacobs beauty brand for a very long time. The thing is that I wasn’t actually hooked on the 7-pan palettes from the main collection and the limited editions were fairly difficult to grab. But once I saw the tester of the Wild One Eyeshadow Palette, I immediately understood that I need it.
Let’s start with the palette itself and then I’ll tell you about my expectations and reality.
Compact. It’s a very big zebra-designed mirrored plastic compact. It closes with a clasp which saves my mani.
The palette houses 20 shades and I want to divide them in two halves.
The upper half:
Paper Tiger - matte milk shade that will be nice to apply over a primer and to even out the skin tone
Nine Lives - matte pinky-beige which is fab for blending
Sheepish - faint lavender metallic shade with interesting yet gentle undertones
Early Bird - light-beige metallic that is great for the inner corners
Pale Elephant - matte white shade
Nest Egg - yellow-green frosty shade
Lion’s Share - frosty rose gold. Unbelievably beautiful hue for daytime makeup
Chameleon - plum-based sapphire metallic shade
Hen Party - one of the shades that was the reason that I bought this palette. Flaming duochrome that shines from golden to bright red
Funny Bunny - silver metallic shade with a blue sheen
Golden Fleece - warm-toned copper metallic
Cat Fight - flamboyant and bold fuchsia shade
Dog and Pony - warm-toned pinky beige. This one is more intense than the Nine Lives and it’ll be fine for the crease.
Bull’s Eye - burgundy matte
Pea-Cocky - matte teal muted shade
Foxy - bronzy metallic hue
Free Bird - bright plum-based purple shade
Bearish - matte warm-toned brown
Cat Call - matte fair peachy shade
Crow’s Nest - this is the night’s sky color. Matte dark-blue with silver sparkle. On the eyes it looks almost black and shimmer-less.
As you can see, the color selection of the The Wild One Eyeshadow palette is huge yet balanced at the same time. These shades will flatter girls with warm as well as cool skin undertones. I expected that the products would be drier in texture and of average pigmentation, though in reality turned out to be different.
This palette is mega-cool!
Matte eyeshadows are very soft, bright and really remind me of the Lime Crime Venus eyeshadow palette quality-wise. The shades are fabulous to work with, as they pat on nicely and don’t stain anything. If only there was one black matte shade, this palette would be a must have.
Metallics and frosty shades have become a true discovery for me. I usually advise to apply such shades with a fingertip or a dampened brush. But here I assure you that you can apply it with a fingertip or a brush and it isn’t actually important what brush you use - the eyeshadows will look flawless anyway. They feel creamy consistency-wise and somehow remind me of a liquid foil. The pigmentation is insane. The only dud is that the shades can dust with some separate shimmer particles in the palette.
Overall: If you read my reviews, you know that I have a lot of eyeshadow palettes. I’m trying to be reasonable choosing cosmetics so I can say that there are no shitty palettes in my collection. But the Marc Jacobs The Wild One is a really cool eyeshadow palette which is a massive source of inspiration for me even when I just have a slight look at it.
Beautiful and some unique shades are accompanied with a stunning quality. This is why this palette has become one of the best for me.
