Lately, I have fallen in love with matte lipsticks and buy them again and again. In this review I would like to describe my experience with MAX Factor Velvet Matte Lipsticks. Matte lipsticks look good on my not so big lips, making them delicate and attractive. I used to have a different opinion about this, but I changed it.
Also, I felt positive about Max Factor and I always considered it a brand that delivers worthy cosmetics. So when I saw this lipstick on the shelf, I put it into my shopping cart without hesitation.
Design:
It’s a huge minus. The surface of the tube is matte and accumulates all the dust and dirt. I do not like when my makeup quickly lose their beautiful appearance. I had to clean the tube to take some decent photos for the review, and it took really long.
The color
I usually choose bright and vibrant colors for myself. This time, however, the choice has fallen on a delicate nude hue:
20- rose.
At the bottom of the tube you can see the color of the lipstick. This makes it easier to get the right lipstick out of the collection. But I find that the color of the tube is somewhat different than the lipstick itself. The lipstick is more gentle and less bright.
The scent
The velvet lipstick has a sweet delicate scent that lingers on the lips for a short time and then it disappears without a trace.
The formula
This matte lipstick differs from others, as the manufacturer claims, in that it has moisturizing properties. It means, no dry lips anymore. That was also the reason why I bought this. I do not like when my lips feel tight and dry. And even less I like to feel the lipstick on my lips. At such moments I want to remove all lipsticks immediately and apply something moisturizing to my lips.
As I wrote above, the lipstick is quite small. They want us to buy it more often, probably. Personally all I care about is its quality.
It is pure pleasure to apply the lipstick, the formula is really unbelievably nice and gentle. Thanks to it there is no dryness. The pigmentation is excellent, one coat is enough for a saturated hue.
This is how the lipstick looks on my lips:
In the room:
In the daylight:
The lipstick doesn’t become matte right after the application, give it some time.
Here are the cons:
I feel the lipstick on my lips, No matter how lightweight it is, I still feel it!
Also, it can emphasize uneven and dry spots on my lips.
Other than that, the lipstick is fine. It can be used without a lip liner. It applies evenly and neatly on the lips, without going over the lip border and clogging up in the corners of my mouth.
Maybe I'll buy another color from the line. It won’t be my fave, though. I take off a star for the above mentioned cons, and yet I still recommend this.
