Gals, this review is about the NYX Love You So Mochi highlighting palette, which has become my favorite highlighter.
At first glance, the palette seems to be for those with fair, porcelain and olive skin. I’m pale, and all three shades suit me perfectly. But the palette can also be used on a warm skin tone, since the highlighter in the middle is pretty versatile.
When I received this palette, I shone with happiness, since I’ve been dreaming of such a highlighting product for a while. There were three versatile shades in one, which I could experiment with!
01 Arcade Glam Palette
Let’s take a look at the highlighters. From the left to the right:
The first highlighter is yellowish with a pink undertone. For cold skin tones.
The second one is pink with a bit of metallic silver glow. I think such a shade would suit any skin tone.
The third one is white with a visible purple or blue undertone. It’s for cold skin tone, but it also can be used on tanned skin. It gives a blue glow.
The glow is always multi-colored, which allows you to experiment with different looks.
The formula is like that of a compact powder, almost creamy. It reminds me of a souffle! The highlighters are easy to pick up with a brush or powder sponge.
The sponge allows really precise application.
I love the second highlighter with a pink undertone, because it gives a delicate metallic glow. Classic. Plus, it suits my skin perfectly. Just look:
The glow is appropriate for everyday wear. It’s not eye-catching yet accentuates whatever you want to accentuate and makes your skin healthy and fresh. It’s a kinda lit from within look, very beautiful but at the same time not vulgar.
Such a highlighter I can use even in a daily makeup.
The one with the blue undertone is also ok. But it has a few requirements. First of all, it’s a lilac lipstick, because this highlighter wouldn’t go with a red one. Second of all, cold shades of blue or violet eyeshadows should be applied for a harmonious look.
Now to the yellow highlighter.
This one is totally okay too and gives a pink metallic glow. Can be worn in an everyday makeup or for special occasions.
I’m really happy with the lasting power of the highlighter. It lasts all day long, though it may fade a little bit.
Okay, I won’t bore you with all those lengthy how-tos, because you should decide for yourself as to where to apply the highlighter. For example, sometimes applying highlighter onto your nose may give you nothing but oily shine. But sometimes, it can conjure an illusion of a better nose shape. So it’s a matter of individual choice I guess.
But there is one thing I’m absolutely sure about: the highlighters should be applied onto a perfectly evened-out skin, otherwise your face will look patchy, and the highlighter will turn into oily shine. So, foundation first, don’t forget about that.
One more thing. If you want to hide under eye bags, here is my trick: apply the highlighter onto the brow bone near the outer corner of the eye. It will make your eye area look fresh and glowy, and therefore the under eye circles will be less visible. That’s it.
As eyeshadow:It will work only for those who like discreet makeups. In real life it looks more eye-catching, though. So sometimes I can also use these highlighters as eyeshadows, it’s okay.
These highlighters will work great in a combination with almost any lipstick. If you want to give your lips a trendy metallic glow, just apply the highlighter over your lipstick. The latter won’t change its color. On the contrary, it’ll become more bright and intense.
- three shades
- lasting power
- versatile: can be used as eyeshadows or for the lips
- handy packaging
I’ve found no flaws yet.
The Love You So Mochi palette has become a versatile palette for me, which I can give my face glow, put accents and hide flaws with. Also, the lasting power is quite good.
I think this palette deserves these 5 stars.
