NYX Off Tropic Pro Liner

About 6 months ago I was stroked with a desire to create neon makeup on me. I looked through a thousand pictures of models with such makeup on the internet and they really hooked me. Those bright pictures made me obsessed. I didn’t care much where to wear such makeup, I just wanted the same on my eyes. Actually, I had to put this idea aside since I couldn’t find the right vibrant products. But recently, I was lucky enough to enter the NYX corner and buy these two liners, as well as an eyeshadow palette from the same collection. I’ve never heard a word about them but still dared to test them out.

 

• Product details:

Colors: the color palette has 7 shades in total. Mine are Rain Storm (blue) and Crushin'it (pink)

Finish: matte

 

I won’t stop on the packaging long. I’ll just say these are semi-sheer plastic cases with top caps. They are very light and eye-catching.

The pencils twist up:

In fact, it’s a typical packaging for an eyeliner.

 

The finish is pure matte. No shimmer, glitter or anything. Just the thing!

The pencil is excellent: it isn’t too soft to smudge but yet not too stiff to hurt my eyes. In a word, perfection.

 

They are easy to apply and the line is opaque and vibrant on the first go already. The texture is comfortable.

 

• Use

How to use this product? For me, I found 3 ways:

1. As a kajal, first of all, which is actually how they’re meant to be used. I line my waterline with them.

2. As an eyeshadow. The pencils are nice to blend with a brush, so you can coat your upper/lower lids with them and use as a dupe of your eyeshadows.

3. As a makeup color base. Apply it all over your mobile lid, base your eyes and then pair with the matching eyeshadow of your liking to make them more popping and bright.

 

• My makeup examples

Here are some makeup looks from me with these products from NYX:

 

Vibrant smokey

This is a really bright evening makeup because dark shades prevail here.

Viola!

I follow my eye makeup with a lightweight BB cream to erase the fallout pigments. I also set my brows with a brow gel and apply a clear lip gloss.

 

Saturated pink

I’m obsessed with the pink pencil! I have the duped shade in my new Off Tropic eyeshadow palette and these two show unreal color payoff which lasts long!

 

I feel comfortable to wear this makeup during the day. Yup, it is vibrant but you can always omit glitter and go for a matte version only. Yet it isn’t still as heavy as the first makeup. So, if you don’t dread neon shades, try it!

 

Lower lid accent

It’s a simple makeup with one accenting detail.

 

One more makeup look which will suit for everyday wearing.

 

• Staying power

 

For me, this aspect is very important because I want to wear these pencils when I go out. And when I go out, I want to forget about my makeup and constant touch-ups. When my makeup stays put throughout the day, it’s vital for me and really practical.

 

And it’s great when it comes to these liners. They stay on my waterline perfectly well and a tad worse on my eyes as an eyeshadow. They still remain bright even by the end of the day.

 

• Removing

Since the product is long-wearing, it’s not so easy to remove. Besides, it stains my skin and leaves a lightweight tint behind.

My facial soap which always takes my makeup off, couldn’t do anything about it, as well as micellar water.

The tint is still there.

I guess we’ll need some oil-infused remover (micellar water or a cleansing balm) but I can’t use any of them because of the eyelash extension (oils are known to dissolve the glue that holds lashes).

It isn’t a problem to remove them from my waterline but as for my lids, the stain stays there for another day, unless I wash my face 3 times.

 

• Quality

As you might have guessed, I’m very pleased with these liners:

1. Their colors are bright and they’re able to cover my waterline.

2. The wear time is excellent, they don’t fade away. You can trust them with the most important event and they won’t let you down.

3. They’re super application-wise. No eye hurting as it may usually happen with other liners. Awesome blending.

 

• Final thoughts

 

I’m pleased with my purchase. These are one of the most successful purchases of mine this past year, I guess. I want to buy other shades too.
