I guess there isn’t a girl/woman who hates matte lipsticks. I’m pretty sure that many of you have already found their “perfect” lipstick while others are still on a lookout for it. I can say that I have found mine and this turned out to be the Color Lip Last Lipstick by Sephora. Why have I become hooked on it forever?
The lipstick comes with a very sleek and stylish-looking black case. The product is scented and its aroma really reminds me of bubble gum. After application the aroma fades away from my lips. There are 29 shades in the collection all in all, though only 23 of them are matte (while other shades have semi-matte finishes), 5 are shimmer infused and 1 shade is metallic.
Well, I guess it’s time to start my photo report. I deem I’ll start off with the #19 red shade which is called Pure Red.
The lipstick itself is rather thick in consistency which automatically means great pigmentation and color payoff. I wouldn’t say that it’s difficult to apply but still it takes some time to get used to its texture. The color is unbelievably beautiful and bright. Unfortunately the photo doesn’t show all the beauty and intensity of the color. This lipstick is the mattest matte.
The lipstick doesn’t get all over my clothes or anything. In the photo I intentionally pressed my lips tight against a white sheet of paper to show you no color transfer. Well, almost no.
In the reviews I usually see that they scold the matte lipsticks for being too dry for the lips. Honestly, I’ve never had such a problem. I even have “the most drying” (according to the reviews) lipsticks in my collection and I wear them fine. I know that it’s very subjective but this very lipstick isn’t drying for my lips at all.
The huge advantage of this lipstick is the wear time it offers. In the photo below you can see the way the product looks on my lips after 6 hours of wearing where it lived through 2 meals with some fatty food, 2 cups of coffee and a lot of glasses of water. And of course I talked a lot that day. As you can see the lipstick faded only from the inside of my mouth. I want to draw your attention to the fact that I hadn’t touched up at all and in general the lipstick was applied without a lip liner from the beginning.
The next photo shows the lipstick within 3 more hours of wearing which means 9 hours in total after the application. Some more lively talks, meals and water. Here it’s visible that the lippie disappeared from the inside of the mouth and feathered in the lip corners.
But these faults can be corrected very simply and easily.
I presume that this wear time is fantastic. I wish I could continue my experiment checking the wear time but I needed to go to bed.
My other two favorite shades are: 06 Blooming Rose - it’s a noble cool-toned pink shade, which is usually called the “ash rose”.
and 07 Natural Pink: in the cases they look almost the same but they look totally different on my lips. This shade looks more warm-toned and peach-like with a semi-matte finish:
it’s been already three or four years and I keep on buying lipstick from this collection and there hasn’t been a day when they let me down or anything. The price is also very pleasant and wallet-friendly, $14. I wish I could assess them with more stars, not only 5
