I couldn’t help buying this trendy lipstick from Shiseido, since the promises were so tempting and the reviews so raving.
Plus I fell in love with its quality after swatching the lipstick at the store.
We are offered an ideal lipstick: long-lasting, with great moisturizing properties and weightless on the lips. It has a pretty dense texture (I've already noticed that in the store).
Using revolutionary triple gel technology, this breakthrough formula allows high levels of pigment to converge with water for cushiony, comfortable, weightless color that stays put for up to six hours. This ultra-sleek lipstick bullet glides on to deliver bold, high-impact color in a single stroke, and is available in 14 shades inspired by modern Tokyo.
This lipstick is truly innovative, at least, I’ve never had such a weightless, soft and comfortable lipstick before. And it looks like I’m not the only one.
The lipstick is made in Japan. Shiseido produces their products worldwide (Italy, USA), but the lipsticks are made exclusively in Japan.
I had never seen such a packaging before. Although no, I've seen this kind of packaging in Korean cushions, but never had a lipstick housed this way before. The woman at the checkout was also surprised. In the cardboard packaging, the lipstick was additionally packed in a hermetic bag. As I far as I understand, this is due to the particular formula that contains a considerable amount of water. And, as we know, water can evaporate.
The lipstick shouldn’t be used after 6 months after opening and now I understand why it’s so small.
The housing is made in the typical style of the company: classy, sophisticated and elegant.
The case is made of matte black plastic that I thought was metal.
Brand logo on the lid:
And below the number and name of the shade:
The stick is thin and cylindrical, with a slightly angled tip.
The lipstick sits firmly in the case. It’s easy to take out and it doesn’t scratch the edges.
I chose a calm color with the beautiful name Rose Muse. Such colors are my go-to.
This is an ideal nude color, everything is beautifully balanced here, there is excess of pink or beige in color.
It gives the ‘your lips but better’ kind of look.
Under natural light:
Depending on the light, the color may look colder or warmer or it turns into the barely detectable pink. Let me show you this in the photos below.
Product properties and my thoughts
The lipstick is fragrance-free, which can be an advantage for many.
The texture is gentle, very unusual, something between creamy and gel-like. Despite its lightness, the lipstick is rather dense, but at the same time it shows excellent pigmentation even if applied in the thinnest layer. With one coat, it covers the natural lip color completely.
The lipstick is easy to apply, it glides smoothly over my skin and I don’t have to press on it to get nice pigmentation.
The lipstick doesn’t have to be touched up throughout the day. For those who are busy with their work, it’s the best option.
The finish is glossy and dewy.
The durability is excellent. The lipstick doesn't bleed, does not leave a white residue and does not settle in the creases.
The lipstick leaves stains on my cups, but doesn’t come off even then. When necessary, I can apply multiple coats.
The lipstick feels very pleasant, it moisturizes my lips and perfectly suits for cold seasons. It won’t let my lips turn into raisins!
It is easy to remove with all make-up removers, such as: micellar water, cleansing oil, etc. The lipstick does not eat into the skin.
I really liked this unusual gel lipstick, especially because of its weightless formula, high pigmentation and very good durability. With this lipstick, the lips can be painted on the run and the result will nevertheless be great and airy. It doesn’t require a lot of attention throughout the day. I strongly recommend this to all lipstick fans!
