Do you love matte lipsticks as much as I do? And I don’t even care that lacquer lipsticks are super hyped and to-die for nowadays. I’ve never been into them because of their obsessive stickiness and the chance to be smeared with one move of my hand, which drives me so crazy.
Recently the Smashbox brand released their new line of matte lipsticks Always on Liquid Lipstick. 💄 I was truly waiting for the 40% discount to buy one of the shades for me and share my thoughts about it with you. So, here it is!
▪️ PACKAGING ▪️
It’s a matte stylish-looking casing with a liquid product inside. You know, recently I broke down several bullet lipsticks and from that moment on I understood that liquid matte lipsticks are my all time trustees. 😄 Besides, the soft sponge applicator is always nice to apply and outline my lips with. By the way, this is the first time when I see such a cool applicator, it’s just awesome!

The design of this product, as well as of all the other products from the brand is fairly simple and sleek, but still it feels as a high-end lipstick in my hands. This is totally my cup of tea - no superfluous pathos, glitter, gold or any other pieces of decoration.
The tube came packed with a cardboard box, which provides all the necessary product information about the lipstick.

I don’t usually take the promises for granted, but I have to say that the Always On lipstick impressed me with its wear time.
For me, moisture and matte formulas are incompatible, however, we should give the Smashbox brand proper respect because: even though their finish looks totally matte without any hint of satin hue, it still feels as though my lips aren’t dry and in general the product is comfortable to wear. So, the verdict is obvious: the lipstick lives up to the promises!

I’m always pleased with the price/quality ratio of the Smashbox products. And this buy isn’t an exception. 
Currently I have only one shade from the collection, but in the future I’m planning to buy one more, or maybe even two more shades for my arsenal. But now, I can express my opinion about this babe!
💋 BIG SPENDER 💋
The name of the shade describes the character of its owner to the fullest. 😄 I bought this lipstick online, I didn’t test or swatch it, but somehow it really turned out to be exactly what I wanted it to be - bold, lilac, catchy color, yet at the same time not too vibrant or vulgar. By the way, all the Smashbox lipsticks can boast with a massive color payoff. I googled the swatches of this lipstick online before ordering and I was really afraid that the color in reality would look different. (which is such a common occasion, you know) But no, the shade looks gorgeous in reality too.

By the way, the Always On Liquid Lipstick collection offers a great variety of shades to compliment any occasion. You will easily find a perfect shade for your studies/job, as well as for the most extravagant night out and experiments. (Have a look at the gray Chill Zone shade, it’s so bold).
▪️ TEXTURE AND APPLICATION ▪️
💄 What I appreciate most of all about this matte liquid lipstick collection is that the formula doesn’t set immediately on my lips. It’ll never dry my lips out right off the bat. On the contrary, the product takes time to set (about 2 minutes), to sink into my lips, leaving a stiff pigment to be there the entire day.
💄 Velvety and creamy texture isn’t too thick, which is so nice to apply with one light stroke. Each time it’s a real aesthetic delight to apply this product over my lips.

💄 The product lives up to the promise of an 8 hour staying power. Always On matte lipstick impresses me all the time. If you’re got used to touch-ups after each bite, then buy this lipstick from Smashbox and you’ll forget about what a touch-up is.
It stays put on my lips from the moment of application in the morning till the very evening. Honestly, I haven’t seen such a long-wearing lipstick before.
💄 It’s a paradox: even though the finish of the product is absolutely matte, the lipstick still feels nice and comfortable on my lips. It doesn’t accentuate flaking, crevices or natural fine lip lines, this is usually what all the matte lipsticks are known for. Yet still, I use some lip balm before this product application.

💄 The pigmentation is amazing. I always apply this lipstick with one coat because it’s already enough for a thick coverage of my natural lip pigment and there’s no need to layer it. Hence, I can conclude that:
💄 A little bit goes a long way.
Of course if you apply the product with one layer and don’t swipe the sponge here and there a lot. The 4ml tube is sure to go a super long way!
💄 The product doesn’t bleed even by the end of the day. Sometimes (as at that time in the photos), I don’t apply a lip liner beforehand. The most important is to apply it evenly.
▪️ A PROMISED 8-HOUR STAYING POWER, IS IT TRUE? ▪️
I’d like to pay special attention to the staying power aspect of the product. I decided to conduct a small experiment: I applied the lipstick in the morning and didn’t touch it up during the day. I spent about 7 hours being busy with my studies and after that the lipstick looked the following way:

What did it have to live through?
🔺 Two courses of meals;
🔸 Three bites (yes, I eat a lot) ;(
🔺 A cup of tea and a cup of coffee;
🔸 A bottle of water.
In my opinion the result is more than fantastic! In fact, the lipstick looks a little bit faded only from the inner lip and at the edges. But the pigment is still there and in general my lips look good, I think. 5 solid stars for the lasting power to you, Smashbox!

In the end I want to say that the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick is exactly what I was looking for for so long. It fits the bill in all respects. This is the first time when I can’t think of any flaws about a cosmetic product. It feels so weird, you know. Of course I highly recommend this discovery for you!
And I deem that my cat agrees with me! :)
