For many years already, I’m sure that dry foundations are much better for combo (especially combo and oily) skin types. If you wear a pressed powder foundation on your face, you can be sure that the coverage won’t budge while wearing and it’s always easy to touch-up.

However, it’s still difficult to find the right foundation powder (as well as a foundation indeed). It’s tough to make out what it would be like when you touch it, so it’s easy to miss on something. Buying this product, I didn’t expect much from it, at the same time I knew that the brand had never let me down before. In short, I bought it and then bought it once again! I love this product! There’s absolutely nothing to be picky about with it. Well, maybe the flimsy packaging can be an issue. But that’s nothing.

The powder has awesome coverage if I apply it with a featured sponge or a foundation brush. But a thinner coverage can be also obtained with a powder brush. Here’s the product on my face when my skin was breaking out a lot. No concealers, just this powder, bronzer, and a highlighter.

I took a picture within an hour of application:

What I appreciate about it aside from the high coverage?

The powder doesn’t accentuate my flaking skin bits, which are rather common for me. Right after the application, it looks like a foundation on my face and doesn’t require any time for setting (usually, such products look too cakey at first and require some time to smooth out). The product doesn’t clog or settle into my pores. My skin isn’t dry or discomforting. However, it still can define my skin texture, so you have to be very careful with it and never apply too much.

If I wear it under my eyes, it can accentuate fine lines but again, only if I apply too much of it (no drying out even for that sensitive area).

In fact, it’s a good base for any other makeup. During the day I can touch it up with this very powder or with more lightweight powders.

I should also say something about its staying power. It stays put and doesn’t travel anywhere. My face appears matte with it. There’s an issue. The coverage is visible on my face and if you love nude makeup, you won’t like this powder.

In a word, this is a full coverage foundation with a compact package. Bravo, Smashbox! I’m so proud of what you’re doing!
