Mini-size palettes are always very useful. You can put them in any makeup bag and take it with you, as it won’t take up much room.
It goes without saying that there are very few shades. However, they all are very versatile.
Today I’d like to tell you about Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio Head Shot.
The eyeshadow comes in a rounded plastic package. The cap closes with a click tightly. It’s very sturdy and quality, so nothing breaks or gets scratches. Moreover, the writing doesn’t fade.
Volume: 2.76 g
All shades are very soft, but they are not very tightly pressed. They are a little bit dusty when you pick them up. The shades are highly pigmented! It’s very easy to pick them up with your fingers or any brush.
You can layer and blend them out effortlessly. I personally apply every shade with an eyeshadow base, so I don’t have any problems with the staying power.
Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio is available in different options with matte and satin shades.
I’ve chosen the Head Shot palette, as I love rose gold shades. Plus, I liked the other two colors, too.
Linen is a cold pearly shade perfect as a highlighter.
Golden Orchid: the very rose gold. A very gentle color.
Chestnut is a warm dark-brown shade with the finest shimmer to it.
All the shades have a satin finish.
I’ve decided to compare Smashbox
with similar shades of other brands.
I haven’t found a 100% duplicate for Linen, but I’ll show you something similar.
From left to right:
Skimp from Urban Decay Naked Basics 2
Venus from Urban Decay Naked Basics
Linen from Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio "Head Shot"
Bootycall from Urban Decay Naked 2.
It was quite easy to find a duplicate for Golden Orchid
, as I have Urban Decay
in the X shade.
Chestnut is also not unique. Although the shades look different when swatched, they look very much alike on the eyes.

Factory from Urban Decay Naked 3
Chestnut from Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio "Head Shot"
Dark Truffle from Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons
Wrapped from Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Golden Bar.
Although the Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio consists of 3 shades only, you can create a few makeup looks with it.
Here, I’ve applied Golden Orchid to the upper eyelid, Chestnut to the inner corner of the eye and lower eyelid and Linen to the outer corner of my eye and under the brow bone.
If you want to create smokey eyes quickly, apply Chestnut to the upper and lower eyelid and Linen to the inner corner of your eye and under the brow.
Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio in Head Shot is my little go-to. I take it everywhere with me and use it on trips. The eyeshadow has never disappointed me. Now I’m planning to try other products of this brand.
Thanks for reading! Happy shopping!
