Recently my friends presented me with my highly longed for eyeshadows quads by Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage and Honeymoon.
Packaging - They are glossy palettes of dark chocolate color with the brand’s logo TF on. Inside the palettes there’s a good quality mirror, eyeshadows and two custom applicators. I don’t like using the included applicators or brushes but these are good and will be fine while travelling. The palettes open up 180 degrees and close with magnet closures. Velvet pouches are also included to protect the palette from dust and damages. They are very soft and pleasant to the touch. They are even softer than the pouches by Chanel and Dior.
Cocoa Mirage is a famous nude palette that is so cherished by many top make-up artists.
It’s run in the brown colors and consists of four shades (rather obvious though).
- matte ivory shade that is great for evening out the discoloration on the eyes and blending
- light beige shade that will be great for the crease and blending as well
- red-brown-ish shade with the golden micro shimmer that is barely visible on the lid. It’s a satin shade that looks posh and beautiful.
- chocolate matte shade for darkening the outer corners and crease. It’s so amazing. It never applies patchy and always looks excellent on the eyes. Perfect for blending.
The colors are matchy and really compliment each other. The palette should be used alone, you don’t have to use any other transition shades to get complete eye make-up.
The pigmentation is astonishing! The texture is uber soft and is so silky to the touch. The products are densely packed, that’s why there’s no fallout or dusting. I like working with the Cocoa Mirage palette, as the application is always so easy, opaque and the blending is the simplest simple. The palette is a must for those who are always on the go or usually late.
Honeymoon - I’m so happy I have this palette, as there’s my honeymoon soon
This quad has the following shades:
- white champagne shade
- bronze metallic
- cranberry-colored shimmer shade
- plum satin shade
They are amazing! Tom Ford knows how to create a palette that everybody will be raving about. Texture-wise these shades seem to be a little bit drier than the Cocoa Mirage shades. But in the first palette almost all the colors are matte while here they are metallics. I like the way they look when I apply them damp. Opt for the flat brush or thick and densely packed blending brush for the best application and color payoff. The pigmentation is the same as in the Cocoa Mirage palette.
All in all the palette can’t be used alone personally for me, as I always need at least one matte shadow in my make-up. But still the Honeymoon palette is one of my faves as well!
The longevity is fantastic. I always apply my eyeshadows over a primer for sure.
Price: $85 for each palette.
